List is deadout
-Might put these up throughout the week. He pulled out of filming last min because he had a meeting.
Big up for this blog - https://www.djsemtex.com/blog/2011/02...st-mc-in-2010/
This is my revised list.
Yeah there's a lot of new MCs, yeah MC whoever did a nice 16 on whatever's show. Yeah mc no name is new and has a nice little buzz...... a little buzz.
They aren't the best yet, and they could have made the top 20, but this is a top 10.
Wretch 32, Tinie Tempah, D Double E, P Money, and many others will dominate 2011 and the best this year.
However, re. the best sales, the best airplay, the best impact, the best ticket sales, the best artistic merit, the best grind......these are the best artists of 2010 who all earned their much deserved success:
1. DIZZEE RASCAL
*3 no.1 singles 'Dirtee Cash', 'Shout For England', Dirtee Disco'
*Shout for England was the fastest selling single of the year.
*His 4th album 'Tongue & Cheek' is platinum, selling 370k+. No other HipHop/Grime album has sold this many units.
*Needs to be verified, but he sold close 2.3 milion units independently. No other MC has had achieved these kind of independent sales, let alone in 2010.
*Nominated and winner of the Best Male Brit award.
*Nominated for a Mercury award for the 3rd time.
*GQ man of the year.
*Main stage at Glastonbury, 2nd only to U2. No other UK MC has achieved this.
*40,000 tickets sold for the Dirtee Stank tour.
*More headline slots at key festivals across the UK.
*A Sell out tour across Germany, no other MC has achieved this.
INFLUENCE ON POPULAR CULTURE
*'Heavy' is undoubtedly the best MC based Dubstep joint of 2010.
*The first UK MC to appear on Jonathon Ross.
*Florence, Shakira, and Cheryl Cole all called him to collaborate.....as well as the ones that he rejected, and other MCs got to do out of default.
*Performing with Shakira at the VMAs.
*Performing at the opening of the Serpentine Gallery at the request of Royalty.
*Hosting the TV show 'Must Be The Music', which attained high TV ratings.
.....and the there's a lot more info/stats that I can dig up if you need them.
This is just in 2010 alone. Ive got 3 Gold and 1 Platinum Plaque. This alone shows that it will take another 5 years before we see another MC achieve more than him. MC blah blah is doing good this week, great. Talk to me in when he's done 5 albums and stayed relevant. He achieved more in 2010, than most MCs achieve in a Career.
You might not like him, you may think he's gone mersh compared to what he did on 'Boy In Da Corner', he may not have given you that interview or album to review, and he was so omnipotent in 2010 that you might have missed, I get that.
Yeah I'm affiliated with Dizzee, I work with him, i'm a friend, and a fan......which is why I can challenge anyone to defy the fact the fact that Dizzee Rascal was undoubtedly the best MC of 2010.
2. TINIE TEMPAH
The first single he released went to no.1. Dizzee Rascal 'Shout For England' beat 'Frisky' to the no.1 spot, even though it was only released on the Thursday, which was an incredible sign of the times.
*He had a platinum debut album.
Tinie had an incredible debut launch.
He could be the no.1 re the best of 2011 providing he doesn't face any surprises or challenges that could appear over the next 11 months, regardless It is shaping up to be his year....
3. PROFESSOR GREEN.
*Top 5 singles
*Gold debut album
*Jungle was one of the hottest records of the year.
Green made the near impossible transition from Battle MC to the Mainstream. Its been a much deserved incredible year for Green.
*Until You were gone no.2 in Febuary.
*Sold out tours.
*A killer performance at the Capital Radio summertime Ball, alongside Tinie & Dizz.
*The only UK MC to secure Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Keri Hilso, and Mavado on an album.
5. ROLL DEEP
* 2 no.1 singles.
*Dropped their 3rd album.
*The pioneers finally got paid
*We finally got that album out of him. It was silver just before Xmas, now Gold.
*Expect Devlin to cop a Mercury nomination.
*The chart singles
*The Diddy Collabo
*The constant touring
One of the hardest working guys in the game, constantly grinding, constantly making move
*Respectable debut launch.
*'Look What The Cat Dragged in' was one of the hottest bangers of the year.
*Talking the hardest still f*cks up the clubs.
*Next Hype is still the hottest track in any club. F*cks up any rave. It just makes you want to pick something up and dash it.
*Through working with Chase & Status, Tempz has managed to increase his fanbase, constantly tour on the Festival circuit.
*How good was it hearing Tempz on the Radio 1 A-list with 'Hypest Hype'?
10. D DOUBLE E/ P.MONEY [JOINT POSITION]
*He finally gave us what we've all been waiting for with 'Street Fighter'.
Someone buy DJ Swerve a drink. Who would of thought it...an R&B DJ making one of the hardest Grime Records of he year.
*Newham Generals - Hard.....do I need to saying else.
We are finally going to get that album in 2011.
*Swerve came with a next banger for P.Money with the remix o f the 'Ho Riddim'.
*True Tiger and P money made one of the defining joints of 2010 with 'Slang.....'
*It feels like 2010 was the set up for P. Money. 2011 will be his smash & grab/Takeover.

List is deadout
semtex is a serious hip hop guy, it must pain him to dj for dizzee live and have to drop dirtee disco, bonkers and all that other cringeworthy embarassing shit
wht a fass
P - Money: "...I'm sick and tired of people like this guy just ruining shit- like he will go places and just spread nothing but bad vibes and name for grime"
Jammer: "-and negative"
Words on BIG H - Cry babies gona cry baby
It's overly bait that he's gonna have Dizzee at number 1.
I thought the original was bad
"This is Fulham for heavenís sake. This is a club which 15 years ago didnít have two brass filings to rub together, which used to play in front of 3 or 4000 rattling around here. Which once played on a night in Rochdale needing points to stay off the bottom of the English League. But were brought by a very rich man, and there he is. And which has now become a hugely enriched club.Ē
semtex needs to get dizzes balls out of his mouth
he is so biased lol
dizzee is a legend but apart from heavy what did he do he is a super pop star nowadays
Edit: Half of that list don't do Grime at all/anymore either FFS.
They're all shit
The Victorious Warrior First Wins Then Seeks Battle
The Defeated Warrior First Battles Then Seeks Victory
- Sun Tzu
Lol @ making a 'list' when really he just wanted to justify puttin dizzee at no.1
Not a completely bad list as it goes, he flopped by havin Tempz in there over P Money mainly over a tune from 09. He's also contradicted himself by stacking facts and stats for Dizzee then puttin Pro Green and Chip ahead of Roll Deep who were admittedly, making shit music but charted higher in 2011
u cant really argue based on semtex's criteria
theres a difference between a top mc and the best mc
Let's all rate the commercial artists and celebrate the fact that they've departed from the grime scene.
Pop artist =/= MC.
