Wayne Rooney has agreed a new five-year contract to stay at Manchester United until at least June 2015.
The striker has ended days of speculation and agreed to stick with the club after all.
Sir Alex Ferguson told the Manchester United website: "I said to the boy that the door is always open and I'm delighted Wayne has agreed to stay."
He admitted it had been a difficult week but that Wayne Rooney eventually realised he had too much to lose by leaving.
"Sometimes, when you're in a club, it can be hard to realise just how big it is and it takes something like the events of the last few days to make you understand.
"I think Wayne now understands what a great club Manchester United is.
"I'm pleased he has accepted the challenge to guide the younger players and establish himself as one of United's great players. "
As for Wayne Rooney himself. He's issued a statement admitting he'll now have to work hard on the pitch to get the fans back on his side.
But he's delighted to be staying, saying:
"I've talked to the manager and the owners and they've convinced me this is where I belong."
I ain't Cam but its motherfucking Killa season.
Him signing this means nothing other than Man Utd can now claim a bigger transfer fee for him.
Pulled of a john terry nicely..how much he on now?

this is ridiculous
somebody in the previous thread summed it up perfectly when they said they would like rooney to explain how united's 'ambition' has changed over 2 days. You cant even compare this to the John Terry situation, at least he didnt come out like rooney and make stupid statements about leaving. The transparency of his attempts to gain a bigger wage is disgusting. If I was a united fan i dont think i could ever like him to the extent of his glory days again. In my eyes United themselves have come out looking worse, by bowing down to public demands from a player who, lets face it, hasn't had a good game for months. whatever happened to 'no player is bigger than the club'
It's a good job he stay... United would of failed without him
he mightve signed but i bet his teammates are thinkin hes a dickhead
this is just for fame and papers uno that
