Default FA wants Englishman as long-term successor to Capello

Football Association director Sir Trevor Brooking says the next England manager should be homegrown.

Italian Fabio Capello is contracted to be England coach until 2012 and is the FA's second overseas appointment after Swede Sven-Goran Eriksson.

"I think longer-term, after Fabio, we'd like to go English," the FA's director of development told BBC Radio 5 live.

id like to thank the F.A for repeating history/going round in circles.

If it's an Englishman it has to be Redknapp.

Maybe they should keep it within the existing camp to get abit of continuity going, instead of constant change. Stuart Pearce maybe?

    .

Although I don't see why we need an Englishman, we need to stop going round in circles. We fail with a foreign manager so we call for that so called 'english passion, grit and determination' and think that because we've got a manager with the same nationality as the rest of our players, all of a sudden they'll be playing with 'their heart on their sleeve' and all that shite.

Why is a "good enough" coach gonna sit in the backroom for years. We knew the man should have been English but the dumb fucks mess it up again.

Stuart Pearce should be manager with Steve Clarke the best number 2 in the country with him.

Knowing how dumb these old prats are they will scroll Shearer or Gazza in

Obv my first choice would be Harry Redknob.

but Capello should have walked, period. He says he loves the job - no he loves the 6mill a year and loves the media.

Pearce deserves more of a chance than Capello's 2nd imo

they should have got MON when they had the chance

If I were the FA, I would give Wenger whatever he wanted to tell them how to set themselves up (he wouldn't even have to leave Arsenal).

There's plenty of good managment talent in the lower leagues, they just need to be given the chance in the top flight
