    Default Protein Tax

As many of you may have already heard, the Chancellor of the Exchequer has recently announced a 20% VAT increase on sports nutrition drinks and supplements. In an effort to postpone this tax increase, Maximuscle teamed up with other players in the sector and the European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA) in order to present a united claim against imposing such a tax.

Despite our best efforts, the government has announced that the 20% increase will come in to effect from the 1st October 2012. As a company we feel this contradicts the Government’s commitment to improving public health and increasing sports participation rates.

This increase will have a significant effect on everyone associated with Maximuscle and consequently will be reflected upon the price of our products, in particular protein based powders. However, we promise you that we will work tirelessly to ensure that our prices remain competitive, our products will remain the best and we continue to deliver the best levels of customer service in the industry.
Anyone know about this..? It's shit, bulk buy before I think.

Jaffa Cakes and drinking chocolate are both zero rated with regards to VAT apparently.

Yeh I'm mad. Not affecting me right now but will when I jump on my bulk.

Will probably just drink more milk, assuming I can't find fishermens bait.

20% on top is a joke, especially when you consider how much more expensive protein is in the UK already when compared to the US.

    bumping

    comes in next month

any of you going to bulk buy or just carry on as normal and see what happens in regards to ways around it? my whey and creapure comes to £60 in total from my protein, so with the increase it will now be £72... not sure if it's worth buying four or five 5kg bags of whey for the sake of £12, especially with best before dates on them (does this affect the product?)

Dunno, I have like a 3/4 of a fuck off tub of that phd stuff left. I don't really pay attention to use buy dates etc, not sure if it does anything. I might buy another tub before it comes in, but I'm not going to go silly. Cba finding places to put it in the kitchen really.

I wouldnt keep to taking it regularly enuf, plus the cost is an extra expense i dont need atm.
