Default Recommend me some strategy games

real time strategies, 4X games, or grand strategies. Shit like Europa Universalis, Civilization, Rise of Nations, Age of Empires, etc. Something recent or a lesser known old classic I might've missed out on.

    You tried:
    Command an Conquer?
    Starcraft 2?

Yeah. All the good ones, anyway. Red Alert was my first ever RTS.

Yeah, it's alright, but I prefer the technology advancing, base building and resource management aspects, which kind of take a backseat in the Starcraft series. I guess I prefer macromanagement to micromanagement, and Rise of Nations is my favourite RTS for that reason.

    Civilization tbh

But once you get started it is addictive as hell
Power is the ability to define phenomena and make it act in a desired manner
If you have the ability to define the only thing left is to organize it
So when a pig walks up to you you will be so organised and you will be learning some tactics
So when gets to jiving with you and the pig is wrong you whip your guns out blow him away then you the abilty and have the made that pig act in a desired manner

I've already exhausted Civ4, and Civ5 was a bit of a disappointment. Although I haven't played it since all the patches and DLC, so maybe it's better now?

In 80% of my saved games my game crashes as in the modern era but that's because I use a torrent. Might work better if you got a hard copy

Victoria 2, Hearts of Iron 2, most Paradox ones tbh, even tho they're fucking hard.
Men of War and Company of Heroes are both good.

I'm gonna give Company of Heroes a try. I'm naturally suspicious of any games set in World War Two, just because it's such a trite genre, but CoH sounds pretty good.

Yeah, AoE2 and AoM are two of my favourite RTSs (is that how you pluralise an acronym ending in S?)

AoE2's an all-time great, as is Civ. I think I'm in the same boat as you, but I've never really played Rise of Nations.
