"This is Fulham for heavenís sake. This is a club which 15 years ago didnít have two brass filings to rub together, which used to play in front of 3 or 4000 rattling around here. Which once played on a night in Rochdale needing points to stay off the bottom of the English League. But were brought by a very rich man, and there he is. And which has now become a hugely enriched club.Ē

Tim will come through for grime. Crib sessions will make sure of this.
I doubt it was his choice to change.

Over the past year 1Xtra has been put under pressure to gain more listeners to justify the large cost of running the station which is why they drafted in Westwood and Trevor Nelson. This is part of the on going process to get more listeners but its a real shame as they are getting further away from their remit (from http://www.bbc.co.uk/info/statements...io/1xtra.shtml) :

The remit of 1Xtra is to play the best in contemporary black music with a strong emphasis on live music and supporting new UK artists. The schedule should also offer a bespoke news service, regular discussion programmes and specially commissioned documentaries relevant to the young target audience (15–24 year olds), particularly – although not exclusively – those from ethnic minorities.

When you look at the UK Urban acts in the charts the vast majority have come from the grime scene so to not have a dedicated show is a complete contradiction what they are meant to be about.

So why are they only availabe on digital radio?? Surely if they want more listeners they should be on the FM airwaves as well

wait i don't remember, are Crib Sessions censored?

seeing as they'll be all off his own back i'm assuming they won't be?

glad they're still on, suppose we're even further from my hope for a 1xtra show for a Spyro/Maximum/Scratcha though..

this'll either force emcee's to go Rinse more or forget radio exists completely

Its all set up wrong from the off tbh, as a station only available digitally, via sky & online it initially was least available to its target audience than anyone else. The money would have been better spent making a couple of well run pirate stations legal via some special community licence.

Hmmm. Think how many 15-24 use a computer or have a freeview box.

    That's quite alot.

If rinse Fm can't get a legitimate license I don't think it would of been that easy turning a couple pirate stations legal.

Once these pirates went legal, they would had more advertising and would be required to stick to broadcasting regulations. Then everyone would start moaning how it was better when it was a pirate.

Yeah and that wouldn't cost even more money would it.
