    Default Protein/Supplement Help

    Since I've started work which has been very physical I've been eating a ridiculous amount of crap. Every single day.

    I'm going gym again and now I need supplements but I don't know what to get.

    My aim is to just bulk up while building muscle. Don't want to cut up at all yet. I just want to lift and eat and get big till around January and then I'll go on a crazy cutting diet for the summer but for now I'm just going to work my socks off in the gym and just eat.

    It has to be off myprotein.com

    It doesn't just have to be the whey protein, it can be supplements of any sort but most importantly I'm looking for the protein itself.

    normal whey has 80% protein, isolate has 90%+, realistically the difference isn't that much (like 2g per serving) but if you are lactose intolerant isolate will be much easier on your stomach as the lactose is taken out, or if you got money to throw about get isolate cos why not, otherwise normal whey is fine

    Make your own weight gainer shake, protein powder powdered oats And extra virgin olive oil and some peanut butter, can easily hit 800 cals per shake with this.

    Would it be more effective or cheaper than the true impact whey?

    Or do you mean get the true impact whey and add peanut butter, oats and olive oil to it?

    blend up the following:

    oats, a few scoops of protein, 1 banana, milk, peanut butter, 1 raw egg (not essential but more protein if you do)

    it's what i have every morning

    i'd recommend chocolate flavour protein if you're going to do it though, doesn't taste as nice with strawberry flavour protein

    are these self-made formulas more effective tho?

    do u guys see proper results from it?

    u wont see results from any shake or supplement, not even steroids. consistency within your diet and training are what is key, with or without steroids gaining size isnt a quick thing. make a diet and training plan and just stick to it then come back in 6 months, swapping out certain foods or whatever or adding certain supplements may or may not work for you, its all trial and error. the only way you'll find out is to try it over a set period.

    At the end of the day they all boil down to the same thing protein, fats and carbs. The homemade bulking shakes using whey and fine oats are better than the mass gainers you get off the shelf as they are full of sugar, atleast with the oats you're getting the carbs from a decent source that your body can use properly. 2 scoops whey, 2 scoops fine oats, 600ml blue cap milk and you're set. Throw some extra ingredients in there like @GrimmyGrimGrim said for more flavouring aswell if you think it's a bit dull.

    If your serious get the myfitnesspal app on your phone track your macros (protein, carbs and fat). Your height and weight will give you your maintenance calorie levels, so just go 300-500 calories above this.

    Whey protein ( does not matter which brand as long as its whey protein)

    Creatine

    and hard training is all you need.

    got the chocolate caramel 1kg impact whey from myprotein n it was fucking nasty when i added shit to it n tasted pretty shit alone too. will not use.

    what flavours are best when adding oats, peanut butter, olive oil etc?

    Most flavours are shit except for Chocolate or Strawberry, the rest taste too processed. Just throw it all in a shake and throw a few scoops of Nesquick Milkshake powder in aswell to mask the flavour a bit.

    l0l fuckin weird u posted this, i got choc caramel 2.5kg pouch for 1st time yday and dont like it either

    im gona soldier it out tho and try choc mint next. got bored of choc smooth. choc smooth taste nice with oats, banana etc

    nah some off the shelf gainers do have low gi carbs in aswell. You do need high gi carbs you know (e.g. sugar) especially post work out (when most people take their gainer shake...) as it spikes insulin within the body driving the protein you've just drank direct to your muscles along with any other nutrients you take in at the same time....the same way insulin will drive fat ingested to be stored when it is spiked by eating high gi carbs. That is the reality of ALL weight gain, muscle or fat, so technically dietary fat doesn't make you fat.
