    Default West Ham/Olympic Stadium thread

Just seen their advert in today's Evening Standard. When I get a chance to upload or the non-London guys I will do. Furthermore Geoff Hurst has been spouting this shit:

    http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foot...m-8159342.html

"I convinced someone of something therefore I must be right."

It was marketed as a 'top premiership game' IIRC? I lolled.

And you want a 60,000 sweater stadium?

The thing that pisses me off is that West Ham goons have this assumption that they are a big club when their performances over the past 20 years don't warrant this belief.

If they were a stable Premiership club like Everton or Tottenham who never have a general sale for league games then I'd back that stadium being used for football.

I'd much prefer for Stratford to become the base of Athletics UK ahead of Crystal Palace. But if the stadium has to be used for club football, I'd rather Leyton Orient had the stadium, but they are honest enough to admit that they wouldn't fill it

firstly wait till the full plans are out if we get the stadium because at the moment nobody knows the final capacity, the design and away end capacity etc

getting the stadium will help us be a big club if were not already from fans u apparently know and build a lasting legacy barring any problems we should move in for the 2014/15 season and hopefully it will be our 3rd consecutive season in the PL on the way to much needed stability

and the 2 teams u mentioned still have tickets on general sale for the next home game

Having a big stadium doesn't make you a big club. The fact that you are hopeful of being in the Premier league in 3 years says it all tbh.

Queens Park, Scottish Third Division. Hampden Park - 52,000.

Sunderland, Premiership. Stadium of light - 49,000

35-40K capacity is about right for West Ham. 'Stability' comes from financial and footballing performance. If you stay in the Premiership and don't overspend, that will give you far more stability than the Olympic stadium will without other of the aforementioned.

Yo won't make a last legacy renting the stadium - which what you'll be doing and don't forget this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Wo...s_in_Athletics

Means that you either won't be moving in in 2015 or you are keeping the Athletics track with no 'stadium improvements' until at least 2017.

The Tottenham tickets are season tickets available through ticket exchange via their membership. It's not a general sale. I can't buy a ticket.

Everton appears to be though so I'll give you that.

Although I disagree with Tottenham moving to Stratford, they are the team with the sort of stature that should be moving into the stadium. West Ham aren't in that league yet, and that satidum isn't going to project them there. Man City got the Ethiad in 2006, but that isn't why they are murking now. Sunderland have had their stadium for 15 years now. Done them wonders...

I agree tottenham are the type of club that should be being considered for the stadium, however west ham do have a decent enough following and as long as they can manage to stay in the premiership i believe they are the best candidate due to location.

Couldn't really call them tottenham is they are based out of east london tbh.

    If.

    Maybe.

    Hopefully.

Chelsea struggle to fill their stadium for Champions League games let alone Premiership games... If West Ham games sold out regularly then they'd have a stronger case definitely. But they don't.

Was 100% against bidding for the Olympic Stadium tbh. Still want something to happen at Northumberland Park, god knows if anything will happen though.
