Grime Forum Volume 1 – Freestyles
After one of the MC’s who has been storming the scene this year (Rival) decided to record a track for the forum to recognise the help we have shown him, little did we know it would snowball from there and we’d be able to give you guys 45 freestyles for absolutely nothing! We found that artists with potential were more than willing to hit the studio and put something down, so that’s what we got them to do.
Get the download, enjoy old and new MC’s alike and discover new artists for nothing.
Listen to 38 of the songs on our Sound Cloud - http://soundcloud.com/grimeforumfreestyles/sets/grime-forum-fr

Originally entitled “Grime at its Purest” the intentions for our freestyle release was simple. Hard, grime freestyles from people who still make enjoy making that banging grime music.
There are a few returns from veterans who have come back to the scene by way of Dimples, Discarda and Hyper, MC’s with a lot of hype around them at the moment by way of Marger, Rival and Merky Ace as well as a bag full of rising talent, including but not limited to Slaughter, GT Solo and Hydro.
Overall though, there are more MC’s unknown by most people who just follow the top grime guys and we hope to shine a light on talented MCs who actually write and rep grime. Within the download there is a wordpad file (most of the contents of which are below) that will give a small insight to each MC as well as links to find more of their material. You can use this to find more if you come across a freestyle you enjoy.
Obviously despite this release being MC led, there were loads of producers involved in the creation of this free download, so we obviously have to big all of them up! The producers who appear on the release are as follows: Relentless, J Beatz, S-X, Darkos, Rude Kid, JME, Maniac, Smasher, Cee Major, G-Tank, Virgo, Teddy, Youngstar, Blizzard, Wiley, Spooky, Rapid, Gunjaman, Z Dot, Dot Rotten, Random Impulse, Shotz, Darkness, Teeza, Flukes, Sketch’E, Warns, Moky and finally Nytz.
Info on the MC’s
This wordpad file contains information about 95% of the MC’s who took part in the freestyle project. The majority have links where you can find out more about them. If there is no information on an MC then unfortunately they didn’t provide any, but we are sure you will hear more about them soon.

Opium – Opium hails from Bow, East London and is only 19 years old, yet he has collaborated with some of the biggest names in grime, from Godsgift, Wiley to Target. It was under Wiley’s tutelage that Opium forged his style, a rapid delivery of grime lyrics brimming with imagery and turn of phrase. Indeed Opium’s style is often reminiscent of Wiley around the tunnel vision era. Being of Turkish descent and having lived in Munich for a number of years, Opium subtly expresses his own cultural experiences through music. Opium has two releases to his name, both of which were well received by DJ’s, fans and critics alike. The Out Of This World E.P, a free download made available to fans February 2010, was a neat introduction to the Turkish MC. His self-titled debut mixtape, ‘Opium’ was released late October and, with it’s futuristic styles, neat delivery and esoteric artwork, positions Opium in a class of his own.
