strange you should ask that. I gave that exact advise to a work colleague the other day.
essentially what they recommend is that you don't consume carbs after about 5pm. This gives them a chance to break down and be digested and put to good use by your body. If they don't break down properly they end up being stored in the fat cells.
You might notice that sometimes you eat late and wake up in the morning with a stomach ache/hunger pains. Thats what happens when you eat carbs late.
I was able to do this when I was at uni, because I had the time to really forward plan my meals.
You'd eat normally throughout the day but at 4/5 have a carb based dish....... pasta of some sort, noodles, potatoes or a rice based dish. Then you're main meal, which should be no later than 7.30, would be a meat, veg and or salad.
I didn't bloat when I did it, I trimmed and lost 2kg in a week.
