Metal Gear Solid 4 is amazing!!!!!

stop chatting rubbish. Metal Gear Solid 3 is the one game you dont need.
You need Metal gear one the MOST, then 2: sons of liberty. Then if you wanna wrap up everything, 3.

Nah man the ending is irrelevant if you haven't played through the third one. Metal Gear 1 is quite important, although I'll admit I don't remember much from it, but Metal Gear 2 and 3 are what you need to properly make sense of the story.

Actually the second one is probably more important than the third, but the first is still the least imo.

are you dumb? thats where it all begins and where 90% of the flashbacks relate to. The Naomi/Zero/Big Boss/Liquid story-line's spur from metal gear solid 1. Plus the revisit to Shadow Moses only has relevance if you have played the first game.

Snake Eater is a prequel to show you the birth of the Big Boss story so you understand the relevance of his place in the main story told through metal gear one and two. But to be perfectly honest it was more Hideo Kojima getting his Rambo obsession out his system.

Metal Gear 2 is what the whole storyline is continuing from. The thing about GW and the patriots, Liquid Ocelot, nanomachines, the worm needed to destroy GW, are all from Metal Gear 2.

The main parts from Metal Gear 1 you need to know about are Naomi, Shadow Moses, the bosses, and maybe killing Liquid. The rest of it is mainly a follow on from Metal Gear 2, and the ending and a lot of the stories in the game relate to Metal Gear 3.

What relevance does the Raiden story have if you haven't played Metal Gear 2? Or the presence of Vamp and maybe Sunny. None of it would really mean anything and it would be a bit pointless.

Just because he flashes back to Metal Gear 1 quite a lot doesn't mean you need to own the game in order to understand the story and what's going on.

kojima could of just skipped 3. But he made it because MGS2 was meant to be the final one but it left to many Qs unawnserred. the only relevance 3 has is "Who r the patriots" and "les enfants terribles and EVA "

I would agree with this. to be fair I would just say 1 and 2 are just as relevant and 3 isn't needed at all.

At the end of the day, most people will have played all three anyway, or at least 2 and 3 on PS2.

Regardless of how relevant to the fourth one they are, Metal Gear 3 was my favourite. Imo Metal Gear 4 was more about the storyline than the actual gameplay, and I feel like I spent more time watching cut scenes than playing the game, although the cut scenes and the way the story was wrapped up were brilliant.
But the only real MGS stlye sneaking you done was in acts 1 and 2, seeing as you were (*possible spoiler*) following some guy in act 3, and sneaking past machines that couldn't hear you in act 4.

In the thrid one, you were sneaking the whole time, you could use your surroundings for camouflage much better, and the boss battles were better (especially The End).

Imo it was a better game, and when they made MGS 4 they were thinking about the storyline more than they were about the actual gameplay.

I've never played MGS1, but I get the story. Still wished I played it though. I'm thinking about putting MGS1 on my PSP now though, lol.

Anyways, the ending in MGS4 is SICK. A bit more gameplay wouldn't hurt though. It's a sick game, but Act 3 was just a joke for me. Following some guy around the whole map without really thinking yourself, then a boss, and you're done. There should have been more gameplay like in Act 1 in the following acts.

And Scribbler, I'm not really sure which were better, MGS2 or MGS3, but after playing MGS4 I really understood why they made Snake Eater they way they did. Made a lot more sense now.

you can understand why, the purpose was to show big boss in a better light and to give reason for his bad doings in metal gear, metal gear 2, metal gear solid 1 and metal gear solid 2.

but wasnt vital to the story. was a sub story.

There are 2 hours of video afterwards lol. Trust me I timed it

And yeah quite a lot of important stuff happens.

And yeah that fight you're doing is pretty hard. Just try to keep dodging to the side every time he says: "take this!" then beat him up.

I did it on hard mode. Believe me, the X button is your friend. I did it first time thoe lol, I learnt from the first fight n was ok.
remember if you dont press a direction with X you will just duck. In general Keep pressing back and x to avoid his random hits... Only strike when there is an opening otherwise you will get caught off.
