point im makin is that dipset wannabe's makes the grime scene look like an american imitation in denial, throwin weird sound fx for the sake of tryin to be "original"

hol tite weasel though, u made a sick point
get me i want our scene to be strong and instantly recognisable to build the genre and push it forward. theres no point in ppl repliacting or copying another genre.

    Are you joking?
Recent Indie music is the most unoriginal shit ever, they all 'copy' something. Plus Kurt Cobain and Nirvana weren't even indie.
There is no such thing as original, everything draws influence from somewhere.

    SMH..
i was comparing indie and grunge to hip hop and grime....
that is the point of the thread darrg!!!
and to this day there is a HUGE diff between indie and gunge all though they DO share similaritys they still differ more than grime (currently) does to hip hop

It seems like every other genre of music is allowed to be expansive, experiemental & use other genres for insperation except grime!

Good point, a good producer can make a good beat using samples & influences from practically any genre of music & they usually listen to a wide range of music.

tru. but i often get told im making 'techno' if i make a grime tune with kick on every beat or/and a snare on every 2nd beat which i think is ridicoulous.

its not at all ridiculous, techno and grime are the same tempo, techno was there first, and the thing that makes techno stand out is the kick on every beat or/and the snare on every 2nd beat.. so..

    Not at all
look at drum and bass for example, it was a fusion of hip-hop breaks and ragga. but if u listen to it, the drum patterns are alot faster and well very different lol, the construction and sounds arent even rap. totally unrecognisable from the original source.
where are ppl in grime are taking the exact same beats and patterns and calling it grime.
ide never say never experiment, but ide say that u have to keep the music identity, and make something different from it.

making shitty hip hop beats is not really been experimental.

Especially when grime started of as very experimental in the first place, infact over time its become less experimental, so theres the problem.

If I wanna listen to crunk id rather listen to americans than some wannabe americans.

The fact is the Garage element made Grime different from Hip Hop.
Without Garage ,Grime is just our version of Hip Hop imo.
