But how many players would be happy to go down to League Two level to start? Four years is a long time in football. With their starting 11s, the Championship would be difficult to get out of IMO. Bar McGeady, Mendes and McGregor, I don't see too many bonafide Premiership players really.

It would be hilarious to see them rocking up at Accrington though.

If you're pretty much guaranteed to be playing Premiership football with players like Drogba, Torres, Fabregas et al. then I don't see why not 4 years aint that long. It's not as if any of them are at risk of being dropped from their national teams because of it.

Give them a few years to build their teams and they'd be fighting with the top 7/8 sides comfortably.

They'd definitely make the Premiership more competitive.
That's the last thing Arsenal need, we have enough trouble winning trophy's as it is

Arsenal are the only top side that has debt that is steadily reducing. By the time this actually happens, Arsenal will be near enough debt-free and will be able to shit on any spending any other team makes.

If the board wanted a Galactico mentality then they could easily afford it just on ticket sale revenue.

Turn the league cup into the "Britannia Cup" and get all the teams of the British Isles - including Ireland involved. Would give it more meaning.

    Nah.

Bun travelling up to Scotland for away matches. I don't think they would particularly add anything to the Premiership before the inevitable foreign takeover anyway.

Big clubs though. Saying that, if the move went through I can't see anything other than an anti-climax once things got going

Get me. Going up to the North East is long anyway an extra hour on the train won't make much difference.

On the train it's like an extra 2 and a half hours I think. They are grounds I would like to go to some day though - plane might be an option if it's cheap enough.

Was also thinking about players travelling up and down there - nowadays it can't compare to European trips and that, but it's all time and miles.

I think just the geographical distance will emphasise that they represent an 'other' if they joined the Prem - would take a while for them to become the status quo and become fully accepted, if at all

Southampton and Portsmouth travelling to Glasgow would be a lot worse than for an Arsenal fan in fairness.

And its less green on the other fence, Celtic and Rangers would be going all over for nearly every game, rather than a jolly once or twice for us

Good points. I don't think the away fans would mind much actually. Give them the option of this of an Atlantic league and its not so bad.

Dont think it would make a difference tbh apart from making the league 22 teams unless they relgated more teams to get them in ... or only let one team get promoted .... they wouldnt challenge for the title & i doubt they could even challenge for the european places ... just leave them in the scottish league

Fucks me off when people say "Drop them in at League 2 level and make them start from the bottom". As if we don't find it hard enough to get promotion with all the other shit teams, we don't need 2 giant Scottish powerhouses taking up 2 out of the 3 automatic promotion spots. If they're coming into English leagues, they can start from right at the bottom.

What in the Blue Square leagues? Yeah right.

What's the point when they'll be taking up the automatic promotion spots just a few years later? You're simply delaying the inevitable. The only reason people are saying start them there is because the teams in all the top leagues, that fight relegation every year, would be pissed if there were two extra relegation spots in all the leagues to make up for them being slotted into the top. Slotting them in at League two means that only one league has the issue of two extra relegation spots.
