The financial & reputational boost Everton and Villa will get from consistently playing the Europa League will in the long run, enable them to get better players and push on for Champions League.

When you look at the teams playing in Europe whether it's CL or UEFA Cup the same names crop up every year. The new additions to the starting 32 in the Champions League every year pretty much all play UEFA Cup football for a few seasons beforehand.

Essentially you are saying to want to run in Europe before you can walk/jog. What's the point in being the FC Basel of the Champions League? Hardly a reputational boost...

there is no relevant financial boost to playing in the europa league / uefa cup. spurs made £1 million in prize money and tv revenue by making the quarter finals in 06/07. in the grand scheme of things for a club like spurs £1million is essentially irreleant

as for reputation, being in it this season didnt exactly help us keep hold of keane and berbatov.


in all honesty, whilst i enjoy going to away games in europe im quite happy to have 1 season where we can focus on the premiership. look at what jol was able to do with a less talented team playing 38 league games and only 2 cup games in 05/06.

If they were smart enough they would sell ONLY one of the strikers and get someone in midfield who can get atleast 10 - 15 assists in the league, coz right now im thinkin that Modric is the only player who can set up the goals. Jenas has dissapointed me, Lennon looked lively for the second half of the season. Also, you dont really get as much money for Uefa cup than you do in the in the Champions League, and for Tottenham, they dont have the biggest of stadiums so they will never get as much as Man U and Arsenal.
