If this takes off, it's got potential. Unfortunately, it needs a lot more marketing than it will likely get.

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/07/1...ckable-consoleBy basing their operating system on Android (ICS). The Ouya is intended to be open, and they welcome hackers - rooting it is easy, and won't void your warranty. This raises a rather large concern about the integrity of any multiplayer experiences - if it's so easy to root, it's likely we'll see a surplus of cheaters in any multiplayer match.
The manufacturer is asking for $950k via Kickstarter and they're looking to put it on the market for $99 which a very reasonable price. It's OS means it's gonna be a hackers paradise, the amount of homebrew games that would be available will be ridiculous.

I read about this last week and it does have massive potensial for both honebrew and indie/small dev teams.
I seem to have more fun with indie games these days than most big games.

Apparently the kickstarter for this has about $3million now, so they'll probably have a little left over for advertising.
As hackable and moddable as this claims to be in vision, it needs to be simple enough for the average Joe.
Will cop.

I wonder what sort of games this will get. Android ports? GTA3? That could be very nice.
But what I'm thinking of is emulators. A cheap emulator box could do well.
this interests me tbh, might get my developing head on if i buy one too
The OUYA will be out in June! You can now pre-order it!

What promises to be a year filled with video game hardware will officially start on March 28, when Ouya will ship its Android 4.0-powered home game console to over 60,000 backers who helped the upstart system raise nearly $8.6 million on Kickstarter. The team announced in an update that "parts are in the factory and assembly lines are buzzing."

My personal opinion, the clear one looks ugly, along with the big ass controller, but I will still cop it eventually tbh.
The black colour way looks nice & sleek.

this thing will not be profitable.

Might buy this for my sons bedroom. Hoping they actually ship orders in time unlike a whole load of other kickstarter projects that have been and gone.
http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?...ng-to-the-OUYAOne unofficial Ouya fan forum has compiled a list of about 500 games in development for the system, many of which look like they'll be ready for prime time soon.

I will be using this purely for console/arcade emulators.
