ppl expected england to struggle qualifying, and deffo france to top the group. instead they topped the group without their best player for 2/3 of it, n now they're on the verge of entering the semi's with a very realistic chance.

i think england could and will win tbh. the real test will come vs the germans but even by that stage, i think considering the circumstances, it'll have been a successful campaign tbh n deffo a squad to look forward to the WC with jones, smalling, hart, theo, oxlade, welbeck, etc all blossoming lol n/h

By "helping them in the slightest", I meant helping ease the publics doubt. The thing about this country is when the see the slightest glimmer of hope. If all that happened all it would do is give the tabloids something to rave over, even if England play shit for both games.

I disagree. I think people expected England to qualify, just not at the top of the group. They've done tbf to them, though with a lot of fortune.

This is a very good post.

I think it's been successful anyway though whether we lose or not. We've got to the final 8, which means that we are just about achieving as we're top 10 in the Fifa world rankings.
