d double freestyled on tubby's jungle set a few years back and it was weak, would rather hear some new bars than a shit freestyle.

and if you listen to grime you should know by now what a freestyle is i'm afraid.
i can't stress to you, your girl's a slag to me and a princess to you.

I dont disagree. Its nothing to do with grime, they do it in hip hop too.

I say call it as it is, your spittin bars, never said they were bad but dont label it as a freestyle.

Maybe they live in the late 1980's too.

Yes fair enough, 'freestyle' is being used the same way 'record' might be these days.

Freestyle has never meant improvised, it means freestyle, i.e. bars with no specific connection or purpose rather than if they were on a tune. It's not that the meaning has changed or that most MCs are too shit to freestyle properly, it's just that you're wrong

    Freestyle rap

Freestyle rap commonly refers to rap lyrics which are improvised through an acappella or with instrumental beats, i.e. performed with no previously composed lyrics, or "off the top of the head". It is similar to other improvisational music such as jazz - Myka 9 of Freestyle Fellowship describes it as being "like a jazz solo" where there is a lead saxophonist acting as the improviser and the rest of the band providing the beat. Rap battles are sometimes improvised in this way. It is similar in both form and function to the ancient practice of flyting.

    You diikhead.
    Got the information off Wikipedia???
Have you been listening to grime and hip hop for two months or something??

the term 'FREESTYLE' has been used since the 80's to define the use of any chosen bars the mc wants to spit over any beat

    Next paragraph:

"Originally, in Old school hip hop of the 1980s, the term ‘freestyle’ referred to a pre-written rap verse that was not on any particular subject matter, but rather was written for the purpose of demonstrating skill."

Since nobody in the world ever does improvised raps for anything more serious than joking around with the boys since improv raps tend not to get any more sophisticated than 'I'll shag your mum/I like her pum' I can conclude that anyone who expects a freestyle to be improv is a mug

It only means that in hip hop. Freestyle in swimming, BMXing or grime etc means something different.
