another manager down for spurs, undecided if it is a gd or bad move.
At least Harry Redknapp will get a handsome £4m payoff, which after tax will be £4m.
"it was 3 o'clock in the morning i look out the window and there was a fucking baby standing on the corner!"
Bit late for winter RT @henrywinter: #thfc confirm Redknapp exit via @SpursOfficial http://t.co/ycuNPEaG
rationally dumb move as this guy has got you to consistently achieve
While he was in post other fans called him illiterate, a crook, he had no tactical nous, bottled third place etc, now when he's fired its stupid.
He has done a good job, no denying that, but what happened last season wasn't acceptable - he started picking his England side publicly for fucks sake. He had a year to run on the contract, I don't think he warranted a new one (especially a three year deal) and so sorting this before the season starts is the sensible way to go (rather than him riding out those last 12 months, very publicly). You can't go on TV, in the middle of an England game, telling the chairman you deserve three years and then talking about his dead mum etc. And, if you believe the rumours, Redknapp's relationship with a number of players (Kaboul, Lennon etc) had turned.
In terms of Moyes, I'd be happy enough. Think he will need to go for it a bit more, but its a different set of players so that shouldn't be a problem. Given his situation at Everton I assume Levy will be telling him there's money at Spurs to spend, which is positive. I just don't think Levy trusted Redknapp with transfers really, which I think is how you explain our January.
Hope Pienaar is letting everyone know how good Moyes is. Four years is a long time in football, thanks Harry but its the right time to go.
Redknapp when he thought he might get the England job:
Redknapp when he wants a new contract:"They don't care whether I'm the manager next year, they wouldn't lose any sleep over that or whoever comes. That's football: footballers are footballers, they play the game, they come in every day and train, somebody else comes in the door tomorrow and it's 'the king is dead, long live the king'."
Hmmm."It's not a case of me looking for security," Redknapp said. "What it's about is players knowing you've only got a year left on your contract and knowing that it doesn't work, basically. I think it's a situation of 'Well, he might not be here next year'. You don't let players run into the last year of their contract if you think they're any good and you don't let managers run into the last year of their contract if you think they're any good."
