Didn't So Solid go multi-platinum on their own label though?

And this was back when albums cost £13.99.

I don't know and I don't really care but I'd think So Solid made more than BBK lol.

So Solid, they made an impact when the mainstream were not ready for 'urban' acts, and this was also in the age when you had to actually leave your house n purchase music.

I'd put Roll Deep infront of So solid and keep fire camp last.

reason being...most successful is roll deep surely...not in terms of grime but overall cause the question is who have been most successful.

2 number 1's right? green light and good times

dont remember where when im ere, the avenue and shake a leg reached but they charted

    hands down roll deep

    i liked that video

    So Solid had 10 top 10's and 2 number 1's. £3.99 a single lol.

They Don't Know top 6 album, Execute got to number 11 and sold 300k. Before internet piracy.

Anyone who says Roll Deep must of been too young to actually experience the So Solid days properly.

My idea of successful is being popular without compromising your artistic integrity.
But the question is basically who made the most money.

I'm pretty sure So Solid would have made several millions, divided amongst 30-odd people it's not much but as a unit it's more than BBK I think.

In fact the more I think about it the more I'm convinced So Solid's success actually dwarfs their nearest competitor, they had Oxide and Neutrino topping the charts before 21 Seconds came out and they had their album too and they were a part of So Solid.

Roll Deep if you take into account their various members' solo success.

    .

If we're talking anyone who has ever been a part of Roll Deep
    Tinchy is making bags
    Dizzee is making bags
Wiley has a couple of tunes charting
Skepta & JME (even though they were only in for a little while) are doing well
Roll Deep itself has had charting albums and a couple no. 1's

Would that be including or excluding Dizzee, Skepta and JME?
I guess even Wiley's solo + Roll Deep's group efforts would amount to quite a bit still.

Yeah I heard So Solid sold quite a bit, but that was at the dawn of internet piracy where you could have major labels invest in real music and still sell well.

can confirm when I say Roll Deep members' solo success I mean: the commercial success of the MCs who have been in Roll Deep, outside of the group.

I wouldn't have said it if I was excluding all the successful members lol.

In terms of group releases: Roll Deep > So Solid > BBK

You'd expect BBK to be higher but they haven't actually released much as a group, whereas Roll Deep and So Solid have charted and have/had consistent releases

wiley, dizzee rascal, trim and wonder have all gained credibility outside the group in different music scenes. they're the most successful in that sense. noone actually thinks so solid make good music the just limp along on top of the pops nostalgia and roles in badly written 'urban' dramas....
