Honestly before anyone discusses who's world class and who isn't we should really get the definition of what World Class should be. How about if the starting 11 of the world were to face the starting 11 of mars?

Rooney is defo less exciting than he used to be, but then again that's probably maturity creeping in albeit in the mid 20's. He is now more of a goalscorer but if there was an injury crisis and he was needed on the wing he would be adequate there. That may be the thing that sets him apart from others, he's not renowned for his position. Messi and Ronaldo aren't either but they clearly show how world class they are through goals alone.

For me personally, they are the absolute elite, there should never be more than around 10-15 "world class" players. The term is thrown around too much.
Undoubtedly world class:

- Messi
- Ronaldo
- Xavi
- Iniesta

Who else? (I'm not saying there's only 4 btw I'm asking you lot.)

I think Rooney deserves to be in the top 3 strikers, along with RVP.

If Traore was a key component of that team I'd agree with you. But Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez were unbelievable in the league and Champions League in 08. Since selling the latter two, United's team has been based largely on a strong defense and getting the ball to Rooney to score. It's pretty hard to deny his impact at this point.

A few points here, just because Rooney in your opinion isn't the best in prem, that makes him not world class?

Also, Torres was good for Liverpool but part of me thinks you wouldn't even bring that up if you weren't a Liverpool fan.

If we're going on goals then we might as well start talking about Van Nistelrooy when he was at United or even Dwight Yorke (and lets be honest, he wasn't world class)
