    OP obviously speaking sarcastically

Rooney has been world class since 07 IMO.

However, do non Man Utd fans class Valencia (probably our best performer apart from Rooney this season) as world class?

    Just curious

I don't there are only 10-15 world class players. I really think it should be top 5 of each position. Let's just take the 5 best leagues in the world England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France (??? also in no particular order), we (United) have 51 registered players alone (http://www.manutd.com/en/Players-And....aspx?pageNo=2), we can narrow it down, by taking out the younger guys, who are in and between the reserves and the actual squad. So about 29 players give or take.

Most teams, I would assume have at least 20+ players, and to make things easier lets just round the 29 to 30. Lets just assume the average number of players is 25. 25 multiply 20 is 500, 500 players in our league alone. If we apply that to the other 4 leagues that is about 2500 players. We'll us the maximum number you said (15). 15 players are world class from a group of 2500? That just doesn't sound plausible at all.

If we ignore Messi and Ronaldo (who are on a different level), you could have 55 world class players if you want to be specific, 45 if you want to be slightly vague and 20 if you want to be really vague. That includes GK's.

I was half taking the piss as I am a Utd fan but I can't think of a better strike force than City's.

    Dzeko
    Aguero
    Tevez
    Balotelli
    Santa Cruz

    Who else's is as strong?

Despite hating that he plays for United, most City fans rate Rooney highly and would want him in their starting 11 without question.

Probably Madrid If you include Ronnie as a striker.

He probably has a better reputation outside England, and definitely has an understanding of the game most English players don't. Can go missing though.

I wouldn't say he is world class as you are then saying he is pretty much on Ronaldo and Messi's level. The likes of Rooney, RVP and Gomez are below that level, would class them as very good strikers.

There are very few world class players in any position imo. I believe you can't just be throwing out the term world class to anyone, it only applies to thoser special talents but that's my opinion

Messi and Ronaldo are two of the greatest goalscorer of all-time pal.

Goalscorers, not players (Messi is one of the greatest of all-time though).

As goalscorers they rank up there with the very best, imo.

He's becoming consistent goalscorer, that can only be a good thing.

If Rooney is world class, it won't be based on that
    Agreed.

Therefore Berbatov is world class, he scored a better overhead kick last season. It was just ignored because a) He's not English; b) Berbatov is well known for his 'technical' ability, therefore it wasn't as much as a surprise.

I think he's been world class for years.
