O'Donnell was the Motherwell player, Puerta was the Sevilla player, there was another Spanish player in '09 iirc at Espanyol, plus one from Benfica a few years back around the time of Foe's death.

It probably does, just football is the world's game, so there are way more people playing football then any other sport and it is way more widely reported on than any other sport.
