I thought they got it started again in the ambulance? That's what I read in other reports. 2 hours is a long time for a heart to stop, I don't think it's even possible to restart a heart after that long?

2 hours to get his heart starting again is not good at all. Hope he is alive though, it will be better to have brain/organ damage than not be alive at all

stopped beating [/I]on its own[/I] is the key term here i think. i assume (im not an expert) that blood and oxygen was still being pumped to his organs with the aid of the medics in the hope it eventually started beating again itself.
will the replay be at the lane? assuming it will
There are very few things that can actually shock me these days but seeing him drop live on tv was messed up, made me choke a bit tbh. Met him on a handful of occasions when he was at Arsenal and he was a proper polite, sound guy. Really hope he recovers man.
The staff and fans at Spurs yesterday were an unbelievable credit to football.
Just walked past the hospital, 2 massive TV vans and a shitload of cameramen
i'll be honest with you lads, i don't know why this bothers you all so much
Blues statement if anyone is interested.
The thoughts of everyone at, and connected to, Birmingham City Football Club are with Fabrice Muamba and his family and friends.
The 23-year-old former Blues midfielder remains critically ill in hospital after collapsing whilst playing for Bolton at Tottenham's White Hart Lane on Saturday, in an incident that has stunned everyone in the football family and many more away from the beautiful game too.
Consummate professional Fabrice spent two years at St. Andrew's from 2006 to 2008 and was hugely popular with team-mates, club staff and supporters alike.
Everyone at Blues sends their well wishes to Fabrice and everyone close to him and our prayers will continue to be with him as he fights to recover.
it is mad to think these guys are in such tip top condition living the healthiest life styles and this kinda thing still happens..
makes you think whats the point in looking after yourself?
who remembers the marc vivian foe incident? madness
really hate to see this/ hear about it happening
hope he recovers and gets back in the game - but i doubt he will want to over exert for the rest of his life, allow having the thought in your head you might drop down any second.. would be so hard

This has happened on a couple of occasions in football. The videos are on youtube and are very hard hitting. Reffering to what will said, i know some people wouldnt care, in other situations i dont care. Death of family members (not immediate family) has never hit me at all. There is just something about a footballer dropping like he did on a pitch that hits me on a different level. I cant explain it, maybe its just the love of football, maybe its being able to relate to having problems on field. Nwhat ever it is it feels very real to see that happen and can easily imagine it happening to someone around you as you play.
There has been at least five high profile cases like this in the last decade, considering footballers are elite athletes it's bizarre. Why is it happening so much?
Phil O'Donnell, Foe, Antonio Puerta all recently and these are well known but there have been others in more obscure leagues.
I hear what Will is saying, think for me it's a fact he played for my team and was one of the fans favourite in his time with us.
