It's too late now; hardly any gd mcs care about grime anymore / all the new guys are shit / the beats aren't levelling. This will not change purely b/c raves aren't popping (eskimo dance this yr was nostalgia - butterz raves being the only other I'd count on, which mainly focuses on instrumentals - this not being what grime is about for me) which then reflects on radio / grime isn't hot on the roads anymore, hence why no guys w/ hunger are coming through / there are v. few producers who make gd grime beats anymore (and even w/ these, u could argue that many would fit into the "electronic" music spectrum rather than grime), the rest are obsessed w/ ripping off trap or leaning twrds noisy dubstep - and for the person that suggested producers such as spooky and darq e freaked should try make tunes like orangeade VIP and moodswings VIP; no. The originals of both of those tracks were 5 min + iirc, like most of their tracks, which to put simply, aren't loops; they work b/c there's a balance - I don't want to hear "spartan" w/ some emotional breakdown LOL... A little variation? Kl. 5+ mins all the time? No. One of the best things about grime production was the simplicity and how fun they were to mix w/ that.

I don't want to hear about Birmingham mcs either; I respect their hunger, and there's a couple decent ones, but the ship has sailed. It's gd they're building a buzz around their bits but grime (mcing) is a ldn thing and always will be - a couple may come through yh, fuck a whole scene though sry. Some of the accents <<<

Basically I'm happy to peep w/e slew dem, newham generals, big h, president t, trim, roachee, terror danjah, d.o.k, swindle, royal-t, rapid (production-wise), spyro and butterz are doing - I've probably missed a few. Joker, bok bok, starkey etc. make gd shit too but they're not part of grime like that. The rest I'll give a chance if I see it on here... Grime doesn't excite me anymore, basically.

I posted this off my phone so I'll fix it up a little when I'm @ the pc LOL

The VIPs didn't have "emotional breakdowns" lol, plus when have you ever heard them being played in a set? Never. That's not the point I'm getting at - eradicating 8/16 bar grime is not what I want. The original Moodswings and Orangeade were built for raves and sets, the VIPs were built for actual listening, have you ever just sat and listened to grime instrumental all the way through and not got bored after a while?

Since we're on the Spartan example, Spooky builds it for a rave and makes the biggest tune and vocal of the year. He goes back to it, throws some extra instrumentation in, adds a long intro etc. then you can have it as an actual piece of music. Could you imagine listening to some orchestra strings and stuff build for 2 minutes, hear SPARTANS and then it finally drops? Sick.

Yh kl I appreciate that but that, as alrdy stated by Elijah, was a one-off, by 2 of v. few producers capable of so.

Re: spartan, sry but no - I'd go as far to say u may be alone on that one

Grime is dead. The economy was only ever going to be open for a short while to those who pretty much started it, and even to this day it seems like many of those progenitors are the ones still eating from it.

Don't get it twisted though, nothing tops a gd grime tune - look @ what next hype did. It's just a shame we're in 2012 ten yrs on from pulse x and all the mcs that era birthed, solely waiting on material from them and no-one who's come through in the last 2 yrs. I was excited about p money @ one point but he's lost that untouchable flow and become unbearably cheesy in recent times.

Apart from helping push MC's, Producers etc. or putting out tunes there's not much DJ's can do. Producers need to start pushing the sound forward and not try to sound like the old tunes otherwise it's never gonna evolve and get bigger. Like someone else said most MC's aren't really saying a lot either, the storyline and concept has disappeared altogether from tunes. Albums don't flow well together too many different sounding instrumentals makin it sound like a mixtape aswell making a release seem like its all over the place.

if the scene is united it is better for everyone involved and for followers of the scene yes individual visions and pioneers are needed and applauded as amazing vision can kick open doors that have previously being closed but a scene that is united and not split is more stronger a army is more effective than a soldier.

The reason why I believe a huge event like a Sidewinder is key is because the bigger the event the bigger the buzz if grime could have consistency in events of a big scale then it would help the scene and the interest in the music would grow also the older audience the original listeners of grime would take note and people who may not usually go out would see this uproar and would wanna be involved.

Yeah more over exaggurated fake beef is what Grime needs
The only thing Grime MC's need to do is release 1 sick track that can get played by radio stations outside the scene..
Fuck all these youtube vids.... save your bars, pick a decent beat......and make a sick track. How hard can it be.
