Qpr vs Chelscum sunday shows that our derby is well and truly up there, anybody who watched/was at the game must admit the atmosphere was superb, it was just pure hate for the chelsea players, they got hounded for 90 minutes and we sung for the whole game. Am I right in saying that the pundits were talking about the atmosphere? Someone told me that Neville was talking about how good a derby it was and its what the premierships all about, etc. but not sure if true. Ours probably isn't top because we've been seperated for years but it definitley has to be acknowledged. lol @ just for Jamie

Didn't wanna let you down after leaving out Paddy
As most the football edz on here are Arse fans I think the NLD speaks for itself, espesh as most the northern derbies are dead these days tbh, with maybe Sunderland-Newky the exception.

Yeah I think the NLD is probably top when at WHL, the Merseyside derby is top when its at Anfield though.

The Manchester derby will be a lot more exciting in the future cos United will be losing, but now it's more important too with City being title contenders. That's probably my favourite to watch as a neutral.

Chelsea Tottenham is my personal favourite for obvious reasons even tho we haven't done too well at WHL in recent years

    Man U - Arsenal BITD >>>>>>>

These days I probably say the Manchester derby just about shades the North London Derby.
I always enjoy the Merseyside derby tho.

manchester united vs arsenal is not a derby, it's a competitive rivalry which has now ceased to exist.

the correct answer is manchester united vs liverpool. every other derby is inferior, people will side with their local ones but united/liverpool is the biggest game in english football and always has been. the two most successful clubs, rich in history and fan bases going at it every year. the hatred between liverpool and united is incredible. a lot coming from the two cities hating each other, personally i think the worst hatred in sport always occurs when the hatred comes from outside of sport like it does with these two, same with celtic/rangers and madrid/barca.

the manchester derby is massive but not as big as the merseyside derby (merseyside derby is massive), tottenham/chelsea isn't all that great, villa/blues was good but lost it's edge once birmingham became established in the premier league and also they've spent a lot of their history in different leagues which takes the competitiveness out of it, newcastle/sunderland is a good one. west brom and wolves is a much bigger derby than people think btw.

if you're going for the most entertaining match then in recent seasons the north london derby comes out on top but that's only really important to fans of those clubs. neutrals don't really take an interest in that the same way they do when united and liverpool play each other. this isn't a disrespectful post either it's just common knowledge.

from a neutral perspective i'd choose to watch the merseyside derby over the others (not including united/liverpool + united/city) but spurs/arsenal has been end to end stuff and both of the games last season were amazing.

Not the biggest, but the most entertaining. Especially BITD when we had Henry. It's still sick now though, especially have Spurs have upped it a level and we're both essentially competing for 4th spot.

I remember the epic 5-4 game a few years ago, absolutely amazing.

Henry's never lost vs Spurs as an Arsenal player either >>>>

Not sure when we play again but if it's in a few months the game will be mad. Wilshere n Song vs VDV and Modric, RVP vs Adebayor, Sagna vs Bale, Gibbs/Santos vs Lennon.

    The games are always entertaining.

I don't think the L'pool/United derby is that big anymore, well not the biggest. United see City as a bigger derby game in 2011.

My opinion may be a bit biased cos I tend to enjoy watching the NLD more though, meh.

the NLD is the most exciting on the pitch yeah, it has been recently anyway.

    highlighted bit is wrong though.

united/city is only bigger now in terms of position in the league. actually thinking about it the NLD isn't miles ahead, if at all, in terms of excitement on the pitch.

    4-3 owen's winner
    1-0 scholes' winner 93rd minute
the cc semi - rooney's winner
    6-1

i'd say the manchester and north london derbies are the most exciting on the pitch but liverpool/united is the bigger game and always will be.

Think of it in overalls, like biggest atmosphere+best game, without question over the past 6-7 seasons the NLD has been the best fixture played out between rivals, some madness scorelines, but to make it fair on the north teams who tend to play shit when they play their rivals we'll call atmosphere an important factor (and pretend the NLD doesn't have a crazy atmosphere at WHL, not to mention it's the one game the degenerates is actually loud) as well as how important it is to both teams.
