Pretty self explanatory really, how long long does it take you?? days? weeks? months??
Do you actually end up "finishing" your beats?
Personally ill get main structure laid down in roughly about a week or 2, then get sum feedback, do a little bit of tweaking and then get bored/pissed off and it will join the number of tracks on my pc that remain unfinished!!!
What you lot sayin?

haha same as - seems to be that day one i get 90% of it done then I either let it sit there til I force myself to finish it or it end up in the to-do pile. Saying that I've made some of my favourite tracks in one night.
finishing it to the final product now seems to be the main thing cos I have a friend thats very talented at mastering that has offered to do any beats i send him for free - once thats done there's no changing/tweaking it and going back :O

I think it counts a lot of self discipline - you just need to get over the hurdles that are holding you back then it seems to be plain sailing after that

Yeh true,
I think figuring out what your not so good at and working on that is also a good way. Once you tackle these you will be able to move foward quicker and more efficiently.
Spose it also concerns what u are actually makin ur beats for aswell. if u know u can get beats played on radio then it gives you drive. If your just makin tunes for yourself then you dont really "need" to finish beats!!
I know i struggle makin my beats sound more interesting, i get stuck in this loop notion with the same break and bassline jus repeating and i think that it is this that puts me off a track after a little while!
Oh well....

hours go by sometimes and all I have is a 16 bar loops I've been pissing about taking things in/out of - I made a new beat since my last post though, whey!

This is getting shorter and shorter... I used to spend weeks, now I spend about a week from first ideas/jamming to being happy enough to call something finished. Generally, it starts on a Friday night and finishes around Thursday the next week.
I found that if I took too long, I lost all my passion for the tune and it just got a bit flat... stuff I make in a few days/a week always sounds way more up for it.

depends what mood im in, tbh these days i find it a bit of a chore to grind out beats all the time as it seems forced and i think that shows in the music
so basically when im goin through a creative phase i just shut myself in studio for a few days and keep making beats (sometimes 3 or 4 a day) when they start sounding weak or forced again i leave it and just do other normal shit for a few days

Depends. Sometimes I'll work on something for 4 weeks trying to fix a little hi-hat sound and in frustration knock something together in an hour that's better.
Sample based rhythms are easier but less satisfying in the long run I think.

Defo all depends on the track, sum flow out easy an sum are a right pain in the arse to get right.

depends on how im feeling at the time, usually make the grimey bangers all through the night though. If you know what your doing it shouldnt take you weeks to mixdown 1 beat. however i usually make the beat in the night, and master it the next day

can be a few hours while im in the mood, but other times i start stuff, hear a good sample that dont fit the tune im working on, so start a new tune etc then go back to them after a while and try and finish them. I've got loads of unfinished stuff though

Hmmm...Usually for me i make a few "unfinished" beats in a day depending! Sometimes i takes me an hour, sometimes it take much longer, usually because, i feel i need to add, but i am unsure what to put, so im there thinkin till i get pissed off, n leave den come back in few days or whatever n then i have the idea. lol long i know
