View Full Version : Have tottenham gone bonkers????

They are getting rid of all their star players

keane
berbatov
bent
lennon
robinson
chimbonda

vital players will be missing next season & unless ramos has a magic wand he is gonna have to produce something outta the wood works to compete for top places this season.

What is his motives behind all this selling really????

I understand robinson because he is really not the keeper every1 thought he was but the rest are baffling to me

And yet its Arsenal who people are saying will fail next season!

Edit: WTF Bent is leaving aswell????

So they are getting rid of their whole striking force?

WOW

Tottenham are kinda shit anyway, the players who you listed could play for a better team if they wanted (apart from maybe Robinson), which is probably why they are going.

People are forgeting the class players they've brought in and their targets, Ramos is a world class manager so im sure hes knows what hes doing

Arkan
18th July '08, 06:00 PM
it all depends who they get to replace berbatv...and maybe keane.
if they both leave, all they have is bent(who ramos wants to get rid of) and oh tomas pekhart(who u say?)
and i cant see any world class players coming in........still think aguero will go even though you all dismissed this.

All I would say is that talk of 4th spot by Tottenham fans is quite frankly crazy. (If you disagree, I'm more than happy to put my money where my mouth is - are you?)

Talk of 5th is very optimistic bearing in mind the other teams that will be competing.

LMAO @ some of that

i can understand Robinson (he and ramos dont speak to each other anyway) & Chimbonda

We don't wanna lose Berb & Keane but after a statement it looks like we are, Lennon aint leaving i can get a very good interview where he states he isn't leaving to blackburn and ramos rates him anyway and D. Bent won't leave if the other two are gonna go, where did you get this info from its jokes lol.

There has been substantial speculation in respect of the futures of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane, including press comment from both Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafa Benitez. In response our Chairman, Daniel Levy has made the following statement:

"Today's public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players. It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

"This comes after a series of events, dating back to last summer, which have shown Manchester United to be in breach of Premier League (PL) rules. As a result, we have today made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Manchester United. Benitez made similar comments in respect of Robbie recently and we made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Liverpool earlier this week.

"The behaviour of both clubs has been disgraceful. We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar, respectively, and that they should refrain from pursuing the player. Both clubs arrogantly chose to ignore this request and we now have evidence that both clubs have systematically been working to prise the players away from us, outside of PL rules of conduct.

"Our subsequent position has been severely compromised by both clubs making their intentions widely known and indeed making contact with the players and their agents, without the Club's permission.

"I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence. This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.

"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."

One thing I've learnt over the years, is that only 50% of the people who want Arsenal to fall out of the top 3 are Spurs fans. There's a lot of hate due to the lack of Englishmen in the team, the belief that Arsenal are a cocky team, a bunch of "cheating cunts", dislike for Arsene Wenger and so on.

Fabregas is a great player. Fans are generally envious of great players. Ronaldo, Beckham (he was a great player), Van Nistelrooy etc. Dunno where your Fabregas hatred comes from because he's actually a really nice and humble guy. Or at least appeared that way when I met him. Wenger is Wenger. Say what you like about him, I don't care. And you wont meet an Arsenal fan that actually does like Eboue, so I'll happily join in with the Eboue bashing.

The reason we get so much hype about our football is because of the size of the transformation from the Graham years. Our famous back four plus Seaman keeping yet another clean sheet with Wright nicking a goal up front. Wenger changed that massively.

The only team that has fucked it up in recent years is Liverpool. Dodgy lasagne or not we finished 4th and that is what will be in the history books. You had to ask for mercy from UEFA when you didn't make it because you won the CL. Not saying that UEFA didn't make the right decision, but they would have been well within their right to have been cunts and said no...

Lool at all the hatred for arsenal. Liverpool paying 20 million for a 28 yr old who hasnt even scored 20 goals in the league yet is ridiculous. Roll on January, where Benitez is crying about where the money has gone.

Tottenham finally have a good manager, but it still looks like only top 7 would be a good achievent lmao. People who were saying they will be top 4, is a joke considering we were only 4 points from the title, and should have won it if we didnt forget how to defend in the last few games.

People have said so much about arsenal, lack of english players etc but considering we're the only team in the top 4 actually run by ENGLISHMEN, we dont spend ridiculous amounts on players, play great football and to be only a few points behind the title is very good.

With Wilshere, Vela, Bender, Walcott, Nasri and Ramsey our future looks better then most other teams.

As I have said elsewhere - I fear for the future of Manchester United. When your American owners would rather spend money set aside for paying off debt on transfer fees, it seems that paying off the debt isn't a priority. All well and good when you are winning, but when Fergie goes and you aren't...

If there difference between Arsenal and Untied atm is two games over the course of a season, I'm happy with that when all things are considered.

When Manchester United beat Arsenal 4-0 in the FA Cup last season Arsenal never recovered from this really bad defeat, then they went through a really bad patch of there season and never could get there season running after that defeat, it finally got to the point where Wenger conceded the title. At that moment in time Arsenal were several points behind blah blah i can't remember how many but they flopped it all in April basically.

This left Chelsea & Man Utd battling out the 1st spot, with pressure on both teams we both dropped many points while coming towards the end, with no pressure at all becasue they already lost it, Arsenal started winning again ending up in Arsenal finishing 4 points behind the leaders. It's as simple as that, it may look close on paper, in reality it's not that close.

As a United fan you would like to think it was the FA Cup game that was the turning point but in reality it wasn't. We played Milan immediately afterwards and we were all over them. The next game, the 2-2 draw with Birmingham and Eduardo's injury was the turning point. Ask any Arsenal fan that follows the team closely and they'll tell you the exact same thing.

Even with Arsenal having a horrid March/April, drawing a ton of games, the points difference was still only 4 points. The games we won at the end of the season were games we were expected to win anyway.

Your reasoning with United "dropping" points is silly. Everyone drops points. Arsenal threw away a bucket load. Had both teams not dropped points and won every game from the position they were in in February, Arsenal would have won the league.

Stop trying to say the league table lies, because it doesn't.

We get p's from the sale

Dun know the next sale clause. It is alot.

According to Arshavin's agent, "he has decided on Tottenham"

Because only Tottenham are prepared to pay the overpriced Arsharvin. £18 million for someone who has never proved themselves in a big European league is a big gamble.

A £10-12 million gamble is fair enough, and Mourinho and Wenger were both prepared to pay that. Barca have got Hleb now so they are irrelevant. Mourinho came out and said that he was worried about his physicality. So that adds another question? Due to Arshavin's size and the nature of his play, will he adapt to the Premiership? It's common knowledge Hleb got pissed off with being kicked about last season and him seeing Eduardo's injury was a major catalyst for him wanting to leave England (he had the ice cream with Milan a week after that). Lets hope Arshavin doesn't feel the same if he does go to the Spuds.

So there new signings are all gonna fit right in & they are gonna finish 4th? Riiiiight!

I can't deny that spurs look like a team on the up but it will take a few more years untill the break the top 4 IMO

If they lose Berbatov, they will struggle.. who will get the goals if he leaves??

Pompey will finish above spurs.. anyone wanna bet?

LOL...Bentley=RM/winger
Keane=Support striker (e.g. rooney or tevez drops deep to get ball)

therefore you can't compare them players.

You don't get top 4 in one season. Everton are proof of that. I'll take Spurs as a serious CL contender if they manage to get 5/6th this season and fight off Villa, Man City, Pompey, Everton et al.

we'll see. Jose didn't need much gelling before beating machester united.and winning the league

Cohesion isn't a big problem for every team. Good managers and good club cultures making the gelling period easier. Ramos seems to be a capable manager and i see players just slotting in.

I don't see why they bought Bentley personally. I thought they would play 4-3-3

You are a big fool if you think that situation is similar to this.

Jose took over a team were already a Champions league side, had finished in the top 4 in the previous few seasons and had unlimited money to make his own signings, as well as having some very good players signed for him already (Cech, Robben etc.) Ramos has nowhere near the headstart Jose had.

hmm. they came 5th twice and have good players such as Berbatov, Zokora, Lennon, King. The Everton came 4th a few seasons before. Tottenham were points away from 4th place a season ago. I can't see why they can't come 4th except that they sold Keane who only has been playing good consistently for one and half season.

Tottenham have Billionaires on their board and have kept up so far financially to teams that are 4th and 3rd.

Jose had a bigger head start but apart from Tottenhams from abysmal season last year although they won the league cup (beating two teams in the top four), Ramos is in a similar position

I wont bet that they will come 4th but with the players they have they definitely can do it.
