View Full Version : Youngers Have It Too Easy In Grime
Quality Control

Any younger who shows even an ounce of potential seems to be automatically elevated to the top of grime straight away.
Let them develop, prove themselves and gain some proper credentials before hyping them and pushing them into the limelight, most of these fucks don't deserve the acclaim they get.
Griminal and Chimpmunk (even though I don't personally like Chimpmunk, you gotta give him credit for his work-rate) are the only youngers who deserve to be getting the attention they're getting at the moment, and even they had an easy route to the forefront of grime.
But it's still stupid that these two are getting more shine and are rated higher (by some) than someone like Frisco, Flowdan or D Double who've been around for time and have consistently proven themselves.

i agree with Ef El, seems like youngers are a part of grime now n people want more of them so they're being pushed straight to the top. Chuck them in battles and make them do more live sets then we'll see if they can live up to the olders standards of performance then they will get the same respect

I don't think the youngers are getting it easy they just seem to have the hunger... the drive to pump out some good music... and its quite nice to see talent develop.

they have been doing loads of sets...
and in my view they do perform really well... I think its healthy to see young talent coming through and learning from the mistakes of the older guys. They bring a bit more hype.

but why are they not having to grind and release loads of promos, appear on loads of sets etc.
instead they just release one promo, or appear on one set and then they're right up there with the likes of Devlin, Skepta and Ghetto

i think the youngers got there chance, esp last year because every1 else didnt put the effort in. If the scene was producing more work, would be harder for the youngers to break in.

Ice Kid And Macksta Are Both Very Good And Deserve Recognition.
Maveric And Griminal Deserve All Praise Sent Thier Way.
Chipmunk Needs To Be Banished From Music.
But Hey, Thats My Opinion.

true.
and also alot of older MCs are jumping on the youngers craze and are desperate to be associated with their very own younger(s)

EXACTLY if people actually made some bloody grime we wouldn't have to look at the young guys for assurance.

but they are at the top, or at least close to it, due to people going crazy over anyone under 18 who can rhyme two words together

think of the age category of a large percentage of grime listeners. they are young, they will be able to relate better to the younger emcee's and naturally will support people who they see a bit of self representation in.

I just wish a younger would come with bars as if they are a younger. Aint no 13 year old telling me they are the largest gangster in their ends and they'll cap 25 mans in 25 minutes like ha ha that's what you get for trying to give it....

Some guys like icekid have been elevated higher than they deserve. I've heard him on one track yet people are going on like he's massive.
Dot Rotten & Chipmunk have put out enough releases to deserve some lime light. Griminal & little D have been doing a lot of sets as well so they should get some recognition.
My other point is where are the likes of scratchy, esco, south agents ect with some releases or doing sets? as hyper said the youngers seem hungrier so its up to everyone else to try and match them.

Kinda true if you think about it.
Obviously the youngers will ;probably have more time on their hands and can pump out more materials then older mcs.
Some of the older mcs you named havnt even released anything in the shops.

but we've still heard more from them and they've proved themselves more so than any younger including Chimpmunk and Griminal, and yet most grime fans would rate Chippy and Griminal above three quarters of the MCs he named (some of them are swag or completely inactive so i see your point and agree to an extent)

Fact is, with things like myspace these days, anyone with a tune can hype themselves up. Bottom line though I like to see anyone good get the attention they deserve.

I remember when 'youngers' were like 15 years old, now people refer to 18 year olds as youngers..
They also get let off e.g "oh that bars shit, but its ok because hes only 18 and hes gonna get better" (an example) .. skeen
