IMO they are able to cross Grime and the Commercial sound better than Roll Deep have ever been able to but they dont really seem to be gettin anywhere.
Why?

TBH I think it is more to do with Roll Deep not blowin how the majors expected. Ruff Sqwad would have been signed in a second if Roll Deeps album hadnt flopped as hard as it did IMO

The new video proves that and so does all of Tinchy Strdyer's videos, should just make RSMD type bangers imo

Truesay I dont think I have seen Tinchy look comfortable in front of the camera in a single video yet.

I often wonder the same thing, in my opinion they are the best crew in grime by far, production wise and MC wise they are up there too.

They do a very good job of keeping it grimey while still making very good music that could appeal to a wider audience and I think if more people got to hear their music then they would definately have some mainstream appeal.

They just need to get their music heard more I think and they do put the work in so hopefully it will soon come for them.

a lot of people who dont follow grime seem to know theyr tunes but not know THEM. especially stryder

'do u know who tinchy stryder is?'

'no'

'what about this tune?'

'oh yeah i love this song!'

i dont understand how or why this happens. theyr definately a top crew but they are missing something special. they should stick to the underground imo and make some fucking disgusting grime instead of trying to make a bridge between grime and chart music.

they need to go to their radio show. they dont seem to put the work in on that front and it could help them get a bit of hype

The other day at football my mate was saying Dance 4 Now lyrics and I didn't know he liked grime. I asked 'Have you got that album?' he said 'Nah, is it worth getting?' I said 'Yeah, it's a good album.' then he said 'Who's it by?' :stunned:

typical commercial music listener tbh. its all about ''hits'' and not the full work. notice how many one-hit-wonders are there in the popular music, and how little in more ''specialised'' genres. its kinda sickening how these ppl are not caring about music, but about sales. tinchy is nearly up there with soulja boy and such other faggots.

radio = bookings and therefore sales potential too. Just need to follow BBK's example and put more work in outside of the studio

yeah

stryder's got the worst camera presence i've ever seen... (and there's ALOT of competition for that award in grime!)

have to say i' m starting to wake up tp them and the tunes and vids for xtra and rsmd are overly sick but they're lacking the star man ie a dizzee rascal or wiley in roll deeps case.... if tinchy is your leader then there just ain't the same impact. they are tight and definately have it them to make a classic grime album in the future esp with rapid on the sticks

I think if they are to achieve success on a commercial level then they need to position fudaguy as the "lead" emcee as he has the most charisma. Production-wise i don't think they're lacking anything. It'll be intersting to see how the album does

LNL
2nd July '08, 07:04 PM
does anyone know if there's anything new in the pipeline from them ?

are they meant to be bringing an album out or something ?

ruff sqwad's radio show disappearing has been one of the worst things to happen to grime in the last year or two - that along with bossman/essentials disappearing around the same time meant two of the big regular 'crew shows' on rinse were gone :(

I like his music but does he have what it takes to blow? I dunno. Hes had some hits, but they often rely on hooks from female singers and less on the man himself.

Guns and Roses 2 will always be remembered as a classic even if it wasn't appreciated as much when it came out though.

'Tell me' is an amazing track. One that goes down well with mates of mine who don't even like Grime (to be fair its more garagey, but it has to be to cross over).

I dunno, just all the songs are GOOD bar 1-2.

Xtra, Tell Me, Died In Your Arms, F'in Riddim, Clio, 2016, U Make Me Wanna, London are all classics for starters

Yeah its alot.

I felt like Volume 2 was more of an album.

Infact, its the sort of album I would want to invest in/support.

Grime, some girlie tunes but still keeping a dark sound.

it did alot for me anyway

One of the advantages RSMD have is sick in-house production that way they can always get there pick of the best beats
