I was busy scrolling though the Arsenal website, they are currently doing a 50 greatest players feature. I noticed that Ashley Cole is at 25 (http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=news&article=491977&cpid=703&title=Gunners%27+Greatest+Players+-+25.+Ashley+Cole).

I voted on this a while ago due to my membership rights, and from what I remember, each person had to list a top 10. So this means a substantial amount of members must have put Ashley Cunt in their top 10 ahead of true Arsenal legends like:

Paul Merson
Nicloas Anelka
Nigel Winterburn
Bob Wilson
Alan Smith
Kenny Sansom
Ted Drake

Even the Arsenal website is surprised:

It is perhaps surprising that Arsenal's fans have voted Ashley Cole as the 25th greatest player in the Club's history...

It's both surprising, and a disgrace. Even the 11 year old Arsenal fan living next door saw the list realised that it wasn't right.

The vote was open to members of the Arsenal only. The Arsenal PR/Media are just as surprised as I am and made it explicitly clear on Cashley's profile that fans put him there.

Definately of recent times, buts theres always room for Ted Drake, Liam Brady, David O'Leary, Michael Thomas etc, theres so many worthy candidates thats why its a travesty that Ashley Cole's up there.

i support spurs so im pretty unpopular in this but my greatest arsenal player recently would of have to have been bergkamp that dude oozed class when he played *remembers the goal against newcastle*

Such a sick goal. Should have been voted the greatest ever Premiership goal (it got second place). Beckham's against Wimbledon wasn't better IMO.

Never would I say Ashley Cole though.

I thought Anelka being high up was quite odd aswel, I didn't think Arsenal fans liked him :S

Nah, he wasn't a cunt to the club when he left. He's publicly admitted it was a mistake anyway. So we are cool with him.
