when you do drums. do you usually pan your drums to one side.
and what drums do you pan.
i been told that to keep the kick in the middle. the snare just to one side and the hihats a bit more to the side??
is this correct??

umm i usually keep my kick and snares center and pan some hi hats, shakers or other percussion

yeh, always keep your kicks and snares/claps in the middle and I usually pan numerous hihats so they dart back and forth in the beat.

Kicks always centred, if there is just one snare it will be in the middle but if I'm using more than one I may pan them. Then hats, and other percussion gets panned as seen fit.

loads of the percussion samples i use i find are already panned to one side or the other - depends on your kits though really - sounds well nice though when you create a kinda soundscape

To get a more "surround" sound, it's always best to pan it to the left a bit.

pan what though. if you pan everything to the left it just sounds like a mono track.
