I'm looking at using it for some live sets, to DJ with but to do some live trickery too. I hear ableton's the shit for this. I only say version 5 coz that's the one I've got. I've only used it for a total of like 5 mins and i'm not really sure how to go about it.

Safe for the links!

Ableton's sick, I've been using it for Cathouse at rehearsal, it's a heavy little tool; the in-built filters alone left me fucking about with it for a day.
Takes a while to start with but I love it.

Safe, i'll shout you soonish once i've had a mess around.
(edited that last remark btw - merely for legality)

I swear its bare confusing, ive only looked at it once.

But opened it for five minutes looked around the screen and closed it. I wasnt even sure if i was meant to be producing or mixing init.

fuck. i didn't realise it would be this simple.

i've had ableton for time and never even bothered with it. i should have persevered when i first got it.

It's given me bare ideas for how to structure versions of tracks for live DJ mixes too (i use CDs live, as I dont have a laptop at the mo). I'm glad I finally gave this a go.
