i just came across this thread (http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=50279) on dubstep forum, quite interesting discussion may come out of it later.
and it got me thinking, seeing as its mostly truth imo. isnt music sometimes taken too serious, or isnt music sometimes taken too much like a fun (i kno i worded it quite swag but hey its sunday morning)?
grime sometimes seems like too much of fun and forgetting about quality control, dubstep sometimes seems like too much of seriousness.
and where do u reckon is the borderline and how could it be applied to grime, dubstep or any other music to make it better?
mite be overanalysing little unimportant tings too much but again its a sunday morning....

Some of the talk applies to the Grime scene, obviously not the part about DJ's playing all the new releases, because there isn't any
But we do hear the same tracks over and over again from DJ's like Maixmum

maximum, vectra, spyro, smallz & silencer could easily be playing from the same cd wallet.

Exactly and when you think how long people like Maxi, Vectra and Spyro have been doing this, their Record Bag/CD wallet must be so ful of unreleased dubs
They could make bare sets without having to play the same tune twice

Plus, they are all dubs from the same people DOK, Maniac, Wiley, Rude Kid etc.
When DJ's like Maxi, Spy and Vectra could get ANY dub off ANY producer like its nothing purely because of the name they have in the Grime scene

lol its dire. there was a time where djs didnt want to play anything other ppl had, now its like they only want to play stuff 'because its been played on rinse'

if every1 in the scene werrent relying on it to pay their bills, every1 treated it as a part time thing or a hobby some better music would get made. alot of music is made out of desperation to get money/fame

init and deres me thinking, hav ppl got no shame? like, they decide to make bait music to solve dere issues. its equal to a broke man deciding to work as a cop. shameless really.
and true say bout the big djs drawin for the same shit, its somehow understood doe, but unknown djs drawin for the shit dat established ones play thinking that it will make dem big aswell is a ultimate par.
dubstep new guys are looking in BARE dimensions to broaden the selection and i sometimes prefer them to skream, n-type etc.
shit makes me wonder wot makes grime artists so limited doe.....

lol hallelujah someone has finallly realised the truth! i thought i was da only person to think this too much politics and narrow mindedness from djs nowadays thats why shows get boring and repetitive and deadout as far as im concerned all grime shows on rinse sound the same since they all play da same riddim

This is something there is a real lack of in grime. I think the general lack of releases instrumental wise is holding the scene back

I agree, it's half the reason why I wish I had decks while I was younger to get into DJing. DJs being producers means that their sets will sound more different to other. Also producers being DJs mean they will have an income making them less likely to fall off.

i say this all the time, but because they will make tunes geared for people 2 react to more then juss head nodding tunes if they making tunes for the clubs all the time

Yeah, don't get how producers can expect to make club bangers if they don't have a platform at which to test their tracks to see what works and what doesn't. How many times do we hear a producer say "ive got some bangers", which means ive got some of my own tracks which I personally like, but these tracks never go anywhere cos there never tried and tested in a rave. Should try it for butterz, try and get DJ's who produce and ask them to bring along as much of their own stuff as they can.

My problem is that i can mix, but i cant produce.
I do attempt to get tunes from less know producers, which i actually believe are better than most of the 'mainstream' grime guys.
But there is no chance with all the msn trading.
As i do not know the producers personally i cant get their trust to send beats.

Its been said in so many other threads but producers seriously need to be putting out vinyl, or at least put em up sumwer so u can buy them digitally. Its a pisstake when u hear a sik beat n want in ure own collection cause you know its never gonna happen unless u know da producer personally

Bumping this thread, some good stuff can come out of it.
I would love to put out vinyl but it seems unlikely at this point that Ill make a return or even break even.

its weird looking back on this topic now me and skilliams work is out there to be critiqued with the other established heads.
For us its all bout showcasing new producers on the show.
Listen to the shows you like, and dont listen to the ones you dont.
