Him doing acapella and acoustic versions live of 'follow', 'breakaway' and 'something about..' on MTV... not feeling it
http://www.mtv.co.uk/overdrive/LATEST/id/39767
Also 2 Guardian bloggers on violence holding grime scene back... specifically Crazy Titch. They make good points as 'outsiders' from what I've read.

http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/music/2006/11/is_violence_holding_grime_back.html
Also... can anyone shed some more light on this?

Tinchy is so boring its untrue.
The Guitar Player and Singer >>>>>>>>> Tinchy
I don't know what MTV were thinking, id of rather seen that with a whole host of different people.
Them guys on the guardian may be forum guys I reckon.
I have a feeling ghetto could blow, if Kano makes the right steps next.

Swag!!
Tinchy is sooo monotone it's ridiculous and them songs don't translate well to acoustic ,because the bars lack depth

2nd February '08, 10:08 AM
He could get away with coming across like that if he was on some next level depth.
I don't know why he got signed to be honest.

Tinchy is pretty shit lets get it right, he may (MAY) have the ability to make a catchy tune that could (COULD) become commercial, but anything else he does is AIR!

Infact the whole of ruff squad bar the productions are shit!!

lol, sorry after yesterday and all that, but I'm afarid that';s pie
Ruff Sqwad are a big crew
Back to Tinchy, his mixtapes were ok (Lost and Found was decent still) but he's just released Star In The Hood. He surprised me cos, no send to him, didnt think he could come up with something that good.
Everyone knows Tinchy is not the best with a media, he's only a kid anyway. He aint supported Kano, Jack Penate etc for no reason
He has a bright future for a reason - swag you know

He supported jack penate, fucking hell!!!
Again I have yet to hear anything lyrically that will make me change me mind. Production wise they are massive and I do beleive that tinchy has the ability to become a commercial success but that was we all know does not make you good.

He has a certain style innit - if you want that sort of thing you probably dont like Tinchy, but still no need to slag him off
I think he goes on beats well
Mainstream Money - banger , complememnted the beat v. well
Something About Your Smile - I thought that was a very good song
Rely On Me - imo one of the best songs to come from the grime scenein 2007
Catch 'Em & Not Like Me - again bug tunes
Please cn you stop hatnig everything please

lol, sorry I am not usually a hatful person, I just like what I like.
I personally shouldnt really comment because a number of tunes that you have mentioned I dont beleive I have actually heard, I am just going on past material which I dont beleive is particually good.
edit: I have heard 2 of the tunes mentioned but not all.

nah fair enough you dont have to like evrything and everyone, but all the sane you cant judge someone on a freestyle. I agree though I dont think he's all that on live things like that; he got duppied on LOTM 2 as well
But as an artist who puts out material and makes songs I think he's good.
You should cop Star In The Hood - even if you dont rate Tinchy I don't think you'll feel its a waste of money, decent album with some bangers on it still

I am not making my points based on this freestyle as due to what I think of him I have not even bothered listening after reading other peoples views.
I am not saying that he cannot make decent tunes but his overall lyrical ability is what I am debating.
I will have a listen to what you have showed me now and come back with fresh views.

ok - like I said if you want lyrical ability, word-play and that sort of thing then I can understand why you don't like him
You should still try and listen to 'Rely On Me' if you can - explains his situation in a simple way and with feeling as well, its a big tune

agreed!!
ive been saying this for time, its the only thing that hholds him back really
another thing i dont get is, why the FUCK, is he pushing girly tunes like folow?!?!
something about your smile was actually big and deserved to be more successful imo, but follow is just 100% pure air on toast
he should be pushing the tunes that are on his cloud nine E.P
me!!!
2nd February '08, 10:55 AM
ok right I have watched the videos and they are professional wth definate commercial appeal as far as tinchy and his lyrics are concerned.
The beats make the tunes more time because they have been made by big producers and I do feel that a better mc could make the tune alot better.
But you are right they are decent tunes, big productions and professional videos, by the look of these he does have a very bright future.
me!!!

also these are tunes that I would not listen to again to be honest.

cool
I agree with Tubbs anyway - the seewtboy tunes are ok, but I think the better ones on the album are the onest towards the end, like 'Mainstream Money', 'Xtra', 'Catch 'em', 'Not Like Me' and 'Rely On Me'
I think maybe when he joined Takeover is when they pushed the videos for those type of tunes, not sure though

I honestly think that any record label trying to make money out of a grime artist should be pushing sweetboy tunes because thats where the money is in the mainstream I assume. I can definatley see him becoming a star commercially though.

haha so true...it all exposes the talent in the grime scene still, even if Tinch has no stage presence! There are bare MC's i'd like to see in an acoustic setting still...'Acoustic Grime: Merkage by Firelight' perhaps...:D

I agree with fully grown! This is music, not everyone can be ghetto lyrically but he does what he does well and he is a nice leveled guy. His album was one of the best releases last year!

Tinchy wont make it.
He has no charisma... what so ever.
He knows how to make a tune but he dont have that natural ability to be infront of a journalist and answer the questions and make them sound appealing.
I wanna hear more of rapids bars u kno.... out of all da ruff squad ppl his voice sounds da best on mic *no homo*

Are you sighing due to my lack of knowledge about tinchys recent tour schedule or the fact I may think jack penate is big???? And I do think hes big!

Thats kinda true, but dont forget he hasnt been in the spotlight for long..
Check this vid of him on Nuts TV. the interview scrapes along reluctantly, shows he needs to get his tv hustle on..

My friend interviewed Tinchy a couple of years ago, I would rather read an interview with a brickwall.
Ruff Sqwad were shit, the productions were out of this world tho.
But they were hype and they were able to bottle up that E3 vibe and put out two good mixtapes.
To break it in the UK as a UK urban act you need to be twice as good as the americans, Tinchy is not even half as good.

Just watched that interview, I thought he acquitted himself well
Admittedly it was easier cos the presenters were quite good in keeping things moving
Why did it scrape along? No one-line answers etc, thought it was a decent interview

i love accoustic guitar, and the singer was good but stryder's delivery lacked passion & emotion. don't get me wrong i like stryder, i bought his album and enjoyed it. i quite like these songs as well for what they are, but this could have been soooooo good if he upped the quality of his delivery.

various productions - hater.
back to the thread tho, tinch is so unexpressive in those vids. I mean, it's really really embarassing. I personally wouldn't even sign the release papers after viewing it, if I were him. Severely monotonous. No feeling in his bars, just sounds like someone reading something off a bit of paper.

Tinchy's bars are quite monotone and introverted so he'll always have a problem projecting them unless he learns how to come out of himself a bit.

Ruff Squad are one of the best crews in the game.
They stay true and keep it raw n Grimey.
I'd also like to hear Rapid spit more...good sounding voice and the old school sound boy bars are sick.

i don't think he comes off tht bad on nuts TV i think the reason it wasn't a great interview was because the presenters didn't seem to know that much about grime.
