At the moment, none of the known ones, I'm not constant enough.
They have bangers and I have "decent" tunes.
Something to aim for though :).

I wouldn't make any claims. I don't make beats to be "better" than anyone else. It's not a competition.

i think competition and being better than other guys is an essential element of producing, same as djing.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I don't set out to be better than anyone else. I set out to make good music. If you get into the "i want to be better than so-and-so" place then you're making music with them in mind and that ends up with you taking your eye off the ball, or coming up with something derivative.
I know I'm better than some folks, and not quite as good as others, but I try and up my game with each tune I make, and progress is my motivation. I also try and keep other people's opinions out of mind, because you can lose focus if you hear "oh yeah that shit is fucked, reh blah teh blah" all the time. I tend to be a fairly harsh critic of my own stuff, so I tend to work on things I'm not 100% happy with and discard anything less than good.
I wouldn't mind being in a few people's top 5's, it's nice to know people feel your stuff, but I don't lose sleep over it, and I don't waste time trying to outdo anyone.
im better than Taz

yeah i see what your saying, it makes sense and believe me im not on about trying to be the forums best or top 3 grime producer reh reh
more like friendly competition, like with me one of my best mates makes dubstep and the odd garage tune,he showed me alot of things production wise and so we always try and slyly out do each other with tunes, like il make one beat and hel be like "rah i need to step my game up" and vice versa
i think you always need to feel a sense of competition in some way otherwise you become lazy, its like if you was a pianist you'd want to play to impress other pianists not neceseraly the general public if you get me lol

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, there are mates that make stuff and we've had a little bit of competitive spirit when it comes to making beats, but I was meaning more in the grand scheme of things. I do agree though that friendly competition is great for motivation.
