not a bad choice of cover in my opinion. its a nice set.
they should replace sk vibemakers with someone else though because i dont know anyone that locks into that or interludes show either.

'nuum general

interludes mixing is dodgy. Also he plays some hip hop as well as grime. I'd maybe give his slot to Tootsie and give an up & comer like meshack nasty tootsies slot

yeah but nasty have an outlet on pyro theres no need for them to have two shows really. OG's have got JJ on pyro so we're left with the movement and slew dem without radio outlets so i say bring spooky back to replace interlude and have dj unique (even though he cant mix) instead of sk vibemakers.

edit: p moneys sick lol

limits a good choice. a good mixer with good links to up coming mc's like double s. either way someone has to replace interlude. the man cant even mix

a p money - movement clash needs to happen still. everyone clashing/sending for ghetto reminds me of wiley in recent years. like ghettos the leader now

The likelihood of new grime DJs appearing on Rinse is very slim, in my opinion. Geeneus loves funky too much, doesn't he?
Sold off the station's legacy if you ask me, and no-one even really mentions it.

Shame really.

P Money sounded pissed off today. I hope he's there on monday as the clash would happen now ghetto's got bars for him

think about it though. if BBK's rolex idea pays off and gets grime mainstream attention (2003) again then he will have no choice really. its the only reason bassline has the few shows it has.

edit: also it could be argued that the current schedule is a fair representation of the underground garage scene in terms of the number of shows each genre has

How old is he anyway? He must be getting on a bit & grimes a youth music really. I also think its rinse moving with the times in order to survive. If it wasn't for the dubstep i think the station would be struggling

Danny Trejo
3rd May '08, 11:19 PM
I don't really care about a fair representation thing or anything like that to be honest. I just think that the dubstep that gets played is decent but there's too much of it, a lot of the funky shows merge into one (and I like funky), and grime is increasingly marginalised despite the fact that it's largely how the station gained it's name.

Geeneus is 30 this year.

Don't get me wrong, I know it was a jungle station at first that was still an MC culture innit.

Decent interview with Geeneus, actually, I've had this bookmarked for a while. His explanation, I suppose;

good interview, i read it a while back. A point is that most emcees nowadays seem less interested to do radio even when their dj has a show

Because men view the scene differently these days I guess. A lot of it is more about getting Logan plays and mixtape hype as opposed to just the hell of it like it used to be in the big pirate days.
The hype's gone really, although I think you still hear it when you clock the sets with youngers etc on.

I could type for hours about this actually.

same lol

The scene is now mixtape/street album based which is alright for established artists, but its harder for up & comers to make a name for themselves. Its quite weird how the whole structure of the scene has changed over the space of about 3 years

Danny Trejo

Completely. And as much as I am still into it and I actually buy the fucking stuff at a time where it seems like very few do, it's still quite hard for me to comprehend that the thing I like the most about it- and the very thing that got me into it in the first place- is all but gone.
It's odd as well, because people in the scene- for the most part- were selling a lot more music (vinyl etc) than they are now with mixtapes, give or take a few artists, and the hype around the scene was so much bigger.

I know it's easy to say that the police locking off raves etc was the main reason it died off a bit, but it was as much about the pirates as it was the raves. If not more so.

MC's with talent can still break thru if they get on rinse
