If someone deserves success in the scene, after all the years of grafting, it's Wiley. I ain't got no hate for him, he's worked hard for so many years and I don't know whether you lot agree, but for me he made work ethic become cool trait for many aspiring grime musicians...after his influence, no longer was it just cool to strap some shitty bars for a weekly radio set...he put the levels up. He's got kids now and ting, so he deserves to eat properly.

So Wiley...the Lick (me) salutes your success and wishes you more in the future.

I agree but do think at the same time Wiley has had more chances than everyone else in the scene.

lol I aint trying to hate on Wiley at all I really hope he does better than ever.
But, at the same time him walking out on labels and rah rah ... whilst that rebelliousness impresses forums it doesn't help him in the long run does it?
He's had how many record deals? And I swear most of them flopped because of his attitude. Not showing up to venues, always turning up late (and that's Grime artists in general) doesn't help either. Labels won't put up with that shit.
If Wiley doesn't capitalize on the success of Rolex this time around it'll be his fault, not Atlantic not blah blah records...just his.

Like I say I rate Wiley and I agree with this thread he has done so much for the scene and I have nothing but respect for him so yeah hopefully he makes it this time around.

all that talk about not turning up for raves n stuff is completely outweighed by what else has done for the scene.

and the talk about labels, honestly, I would rather see him walk out of a label after being signed, than put out another album that has tracks like The Avenue all over it.

Bruv you're going on like I'm saying fuck Wiley and I aint.
As Rolex is so successful yeah Wiley could have the power to go into a label and say I'm making an album how I want... and they'd let him. And artists should turn up to raves and their interviews and radio sets on time, true say you'll say ah ah I don't mind now but when he don't show up or a next artist doesn't it's "Oh man this is why blah blah grime acts are long".

Wiley has done so much for the scene and I rate him doesn't give him an excuse not to show up for raves and shit.

But he couldn't though!! That's the point. Music is a business. Any recording label would look to see what possible future their investment could have. How could Wiley be marketed? Realistically...Some people need to learn how business works.

GRIME DOESN'T SELL, FACE FACTS!!!

Nah man Wiley would obviously have to stick 2-3 records on the album that would do well in the charts so what 3 tracks that forum heads won't like and then 9 they do... But if he done that half these heads wouldn't care about none of this shit they are saying or about the 9 good tracks... they'd be too busy saying Wiley sold out for having 3 commercial records on his album.

That isn't really a response to what I said. Record labels sign people with long term potential. Wiley doesn't have that.

If Dizzee can do it, I'd see no reason Wiley couldn't still though.
Wiley has character. I mean how much money does Wiley have do you think? Surely enough to release an album off his own back and make money off the success of Rolex.

I see what you are saying yeah but come on that's like saying any MC over 25 should give up. Surely he could reach the same kids that go see Bashy and Bizzle on tour and sell some records. I dunno man imo tunes like Give Up (I know it's RD) could probably make top 20 after Rolex... It's catchy.
