Did this before, but lets try again with all the new members and new artists in the scene

You're an Executive Producer or A&R on a newly signed Grime act's project on a major label.......how would you manage the situation?? Choose the MC or Crew, and tell us how you would handle it!

Think Promotion, Marketing, Guest Features, Production, Song Writers...ect..

My first one would be:

Mz.Bratt.........with the Musicool show and some Aftershock press in the bag, it wouldn't be too hard to pull of in the mainstream plus she is good looking and has charisma.......can spit too!:)

Production:
Terror Danjah
Wiley
Davinche
Skepta
Target
Danny Weed
Statik
DVA
Maniac
Benga
Footsie
Dexplicit
Rapid
Skream
Coki
DOK
Mark Ronson (Yeah I know......but his name is doing alot right now)

Features:
Boy Better Know (For their fanbase, Grime & Hipster fanbase)
The Newham Generals
Roll Deep Crew (The name rings off in the mainstream, good look for a feature)
Mutya Buena (Titch had her bandmate on a hook, so why not?? on a Davinche or Terror Danjah R&G beat)

Promotion:
Logan Sama's Show
Tim Westwood's Show
Mary Ann Hobbs ( for the real music fans, not scenesters)
Jo Wiley (You would have to get some play on her show for the causal music fan and the NME nerds)

I know its a lot(not to be confused with Its alot) but I can't sleep......

The Godfather......I feel your selection but I would market Ruff Squad as a total package, like they do everything in house with the production and everything.......it was one of the main things the people liked about Dizzee Rascal and his homemade beats and self made album

Of course I would have maybe 5 outside produced tracks

It'd work.

Beats:

Dubstep guys. Niche guys.

Promotion.

Anything but Logans show.

Axiom EP was fucked!!!

I would use dubstep beats because they are unique and I would use niche/garage tracks because it makes people dance.

I would view that these sounds became grime when the artist was over them.

UK:Dizz, Wiley, Bashy, Rinse, Random Impulse, Tony Rotten, Klashnekoff
US:Pharoahe Monch, RZA (i actually know a guy who could hook this up), Kool Keith (Dr Octagon), De La Soul
Jamaica:Sizzla

Album summary: Fast paced, synth-heavy grime meets dubstep with sick lyrical concepts featuring international guests and varied production from people within and without the scene, all with their own unique take on the sound.

Promotion:
Magazine interviews by the dozen.
Promotional CD featuring 4 x minute and a half clip tracks (like that mark ronson sampler that was floating around for a while a few years back)
Live Secret Gig at small capacity venue (750 max) with all features present to do their bit, broadcast live on radio one and tickets sold for charity benefit. Give myspace exclusive right to show content online. Film for DVD and later broadcast on T4 sunday (hour special).
Mainstream radio saturation (major label style).
Logan/Westwood/Cameo/Ras Kwame/Mary Anne Hobbs/etc
NME/LoveMusicHateRacism Tour
"Making Of" DVD
A few east and west coast US dates to spread the word.
Videos to support the main tracks (about 4 or 5 in total from a 25-20 track album).

That's what I'd do if I were in charge of the kinda budget for a major label project.

Now I should have taken more time on this one but off the top of my head.
I'd sign myself or Impulse.

Producers that I'd ask to show me tracks.
Heads from here cos boy I'd like to involve heads innit...
Taz, D-Structo, Demos and Moony cos true say I want to work with them anyways.
Then other producers..

Wiley
Terra Danja
Dizzee
Youngsta
Maniac
The Prodigy
Shy FX
Mampi Swift
ATD
Timbaland
DVA
Coki
Chromeo
Pendulum
Mr Oizo
Basement Jaxx

Then my boys that I know Jason and Jak... Obviously everyone couldn't have a beat on there lol but I'd have to hear what they are saying.

Features...

Goodz, Dizzee, Impulse/Me (lol) MIA, Rinse, Winehouse, Redman, Kano, Skinnyman, Kid Sister, Lethal B. Bratt.

And I'd deffo get Carter on it helping to do skitz and a intro and outro.

Again too many heads for one project but thats my short list.

Promotion...

Westwood, Logan, Pyro, Rinse live sets, Cameo, SK Vibemakers, Hobbs, Zane Lowe and Ras, Bare radio man all over the UK.
Hit some USA stations and bare colleges etc.
Magazines. Ah man I'll continue this later lol... Promotion wise stingermedia is pretty much what I'd do too. But I will finish thtis later lol its taking longer than I thought.
