What I actually meant was, if a group of football fans have bags full of alcohol that they intend to drink on the Victoria line from Walthamstow Central to Brixton, who is going to stop them actually drinking on the train? There are NO cameras, so basically the system is going to rely on a) informants and b) the off chance of an Underground employee seeing them and informing the British Transport Police. It's not logistical basically. Of course, he can put "No Drinking" signs up, but as I intimated before, what are they going to do, put alcohol detectors up?

Why would a football fan be going from Walthamstow to Brixton? What football team is down there? Walthamstow to Seven Sisters or Finsbury Park is much more plausible. On top of that most football fans will go to a pub nearby the stadium to drink beforehand (or at least that's what the Arsenal fans do) :P

FYI London Underground station staff have the right to eject people off trains. Assuming someone is going into town at night why would they wait till they are on the train to start drinking? You start as early as you can, so you can drink as much as you can before you get into that club where the drinks are stupidly expensive. If you are going into town, they likelihood of having a carrier bag is pretty low as everyone will normally buy their own bottle of vodka, rum or cider (barcardi breezers or WKD for the pussies)... Even if they did have a carrier bag, it would be one of those shitty cheap thin see-through ones the off-license give out. That and the clinking of glass would make it bait, and again LU staff have the right to not let you through the barriers if they so wish.

There are cameras on trains btw. London Underground already said a few years ago that they wanted to double the amount of CCTV cameras by 2012. Whether this includes installing some onto trains is unknown - but probable.
