You mean the results? Of course not? If you are referring to Black Boys Can, the organisers are a great group of people. I've worked for them, and I will continue to do so. There's clearly a problem and they are doing their bit to try and help.

Interesting read and interesting findings too. I see what you were getting at. By the way, being eligible for free school meals does not in no way mean "deprivation". Very bad choice of words. Think of a better term like "Low economic status" or something along those line.

It's not case of girls taking over, but a case of the way school works and the system being more suited to the way in which females work. The government has admitted as much and are desperately trying to find way to even things out. However if you think about results as a normal distribution curve, the mean for girls is higher than that of boys, but the standard deviation is smaller and thus the curve is narrower, the boys standard deviation is a lot bigger and has a much wider curve.

EDIT - Interpretation: Women on average do better than boys, but the best and worst results generally come from boys.

Yup. Remember the years 2012/2013. That's when we'll pretty much see the last of GCSE, if Gordon Brown's coy answers in Prime Minister's question time are anything to go by.

I don't mind them changing the system, but I have a feeling they will dumb down the exams somewhat. GCSEs and A levels aren't what they used to be - if you look at the papers from the early 1990s you'll see what I mean. If the Government continues along this thread, people who maybe can't afford to send their children to schools where they can do IGCSEs and the IB - will feel that their children are at a real disadvantage.
