I really can't decide ... you get good and crap ones of each!
I used to love sets,ie the old Sidewinders - Slimzee, Dizzee, Wiley etc. but they just don't seem as good an more.
But then, the most listened to things on my mp3 in the last 2 months have been one of each lol - still battering the Teachers Training Day mixtape and Ghetto's set on Westwood
I can't decide lol

Sets, but im sure that will change, not a great ammount of mixtapes out at the mo.

Generally, you don't get a lack of effort on a set like you do on a CD or mixtape ... mixtapes ALWAYS have them effortless, banged out because it's lying around, tracks on them

Probably say sets cus theres hardly any solid mixtapes out there

the issue is that with mixtapes you have to actually have to form your lyrics into a structured song and have a sort of concept to it -the beats have to be well thought out to match and balance your emotion or message in the lyrics - this can be difficult - as hardly any artists have managed to find that balance.
Sets however limit you in a good way, beats are random or obvious and you can easily have your time saying your most popular bars and then it's someone elses time. Basically sets will always be great but mixtapes are a challenge. Our mixtapes are coming like some sort of progress pre-albums. Mixtapes and albums challenge your song writing, your concepts, your attitude and delivery and variety. I would say mixtapes because that's how and when you truly see how talented someone is at finding the balance between these challenging elements.

Depends on the level of the MC.
There's only a few MC's that are true all-rounders imo.
1.Goodz
2.Ghetto
3.P-Money
4.Devlin
5.Griminal

Sets are currently keeping my mp3 player occupied so I voted for that, but things can't move forward with just sets of course, good releases will push the scene forward.

sets, simply because you will never be able to create the same hype & energy on a mixtape as you can on a set

You know that feeling you get on a sick set when a mc has just fucked it up and got a crazy wheelup...or when the set is just so hype and you can hear the selecta mixing in your favourite instrumental and its about to drop.
Theres nothing like it!
The majority of mixtapes have been just dissapointing.

also you cannot capture on a mixtape the hype when someone arrives on a set you didn't know was there

lol what kind of question is that, 99% of mixtapes are indisputably and unequivocally piles of horse shit

i did the same poll on rwd and most people said sets.
Also no 2 sets r every exactly the samr, some do become similar so you always get something new and after a few weeks you can listen to a different one
