View Full Version : Should there be another legal grime show??

Make know mistake people that need to at kiss fm read rwd. They must have seen the negativity logan gets sometimes for the way he runs his show.

Before now rwd was the only sensible place on the net that people good find out exactly what is going on in the scene. Now this has opened they have one true place to find out only what is going on in the scene without a biased opinion.

Personally I think there should be another grime show on legal radio whether it be kiss fm, choice or whatever.

There needs to be another show that showcases grime music from artists far and wide as long as the music is good, not just a lucky few that get brought in.

For me sketche plays a very varied range of grime from anyone that he thinks is good enough to get airplay, he has definatly opened my ears to artists that I would not have bothered listening to before.

Any thoughts from an any guy?

Do you think maximum plays a more varied range of music than logan or would the same type of people be getting played?? To be quite honest I don't listen to maximum much although I know he is definatly a better mixer than logan is.

Who knows?? Being a station showcasing black music, you would have thought that they would play grime as it is majority black dominated scene.

I'm white by the way.

I know you can mix well and brillaint if you WOULD play other artists but at the moment sketche smacks it for me coz he IS playing other artists, and he can mix pretty well too, even if he has kinda bitten ez trademark flicks.

i don't really see how having a show on legal radio would change the tunes we hear from most djs. Also adverts on commercial radio would mean shorter shows.

me!!!
25th January '08, 07:27 PM
Sometimes when I listen to sketches show I hear music that I think could have some commercial appeal more than a lot of tune I have heard on logans, don't ask me to quote though as I haven't had the net for a while and haven't listend for a 2 months or so, have a listen and see what you think for yourself.

welll i would be playing more vocals than instru

i no what ur saying it wouldnt be that much different but fuck it

radio 1 holla lol

I can understand where you coming from too. Do you think that with you only playing say at most 1 hour of vocals, you would find it difficult to just start playing tunes from say people like wariko, or impulse etc, when you are mates with a certain few in the scene and they may wonder what your playing at lol.

don't think radio 1 would let your set run over by 40 mins

of course as a dj you want to have a slot on a big station. It wouldn't be as live as the rinse show though

i would play them artists u said and others if they gave me there music they aint never gave me there music so i cant play it

That is fair enough, that is also a seperate issue the way mc's, producers distribute their music, no structure and they don't use every avenue possible. You would have thought that every big mc or producer would send you their music due to your status in the scene.

a bit off topic but is there any chance of getting riko to rinse on sunday?

back on topic i'm not sure if there are enough tunes out there to make another legal show viable. Vocal wise you'd probably end up playing a lot of the same tunes logan & westwood are playing. Doing instrumentals sets would be the best way to make it stand out.

me!!!
25th January '08, 07:47 PM
Why is that? I just think he a good all round dj and play a good selection of music.

It would be a good look for grime to have more than one show

But props to Logan, he has a good show and I'll always lock in when I can

me!!!

Cool, best of luck and all that, the more legal shows the better, at least let's have someone that can constantly beat match!!

Maxi , Why dont you send a demo to 1xtra to get on the xtra talnet ting.

Swear Targo and cameo can give a good work for ya

Logan's mixing has been on point recently

Logan does a good job in that his show is unique - his interviews and his general insight

I know you could say that's because he has the only show on legal radio, but I got a lot of respect for his show - though he could mix up the tunes a bit more, which he has done recently to be fair...

me!!!
25th January '08, 08:05 PM
I might be giving logan abit of a hard time but that is purely down to the fact that I no longer listen to him due to the constant rotation of the same artists, I now have found other avenues to hear new grime.

Another legal show is a good idea ,but a bit premature at the moment.

The levels of song-writing,production and professionalism need to go up or it will be a shambles.

I personnally think if you hunted through a load of artists tunes you would find enough good levels of songwriting and production that you would be able to fill a 2 hours show every week but still, some good points though and something for me to think about, cool.

I dont understand why people want different tunes? On breakfast shows i can hear the same sort of tunes on kiss, radio 1 and xfm. Plus, if its a diff nite, ill be playing a fair few kiss rips so its not like i wont be listening to the same tunes anyway...

me!!!
26th January '08, 11:05 AM
Aza, let me ask you a question, what artists do you listen to??

If you had only just got into grime say a year ago and it was because of hearing logans show, you would only know a select few artists and would probably think that that was all the scene constisted of, right??

I Think Logan's IUs Fine Until Grime Expands And The Quality Of Music Goes Up Further.

Logan's Show Is Good.

26th January '08, 02:29 PM
"me", i see what u mean bruv when u raise that point, but i reckon logans presentation of the grime scene is pretty diverse among the most professional artists within the scene. Personally, i hear enough up and comers from the people that holla on myspace and msn, and i dont think half of them or maybe even more deserve air time on a legal radio show...

also i reckon the listenership of legal radio should only heear the most established and professional artists...

Good points. Personally aza, I would rather listen to a podcast from you than logans show because you have a different variety of artists, shame about the mixing though lol.

logan show is on a commerical stattion so it will be the commercial side of grime with the biggest stars.

Its not really fair to compare a podcast to a weekly radio show when Aza only made 6, i think.

I'm only saying I would rather listen to aza's because I get to hear people that I would not get to hear on logans, I've been listening to grime from roughly when it started, was in the raves when wiley turned up with pay as u go, I've had enough, that's why I have never even downloaded a tunnel vision, I only wanna hear OTHER artists!
