As you may know we did a thread canvassing opinion on how to improve the site and how to push it forward (started by Elijah). I thought I'd update you on whats happened so far and what we intend to do in the future.
Firstly, although it doesn't really affect any of you, I've changed the 'Welcome PM' to advertise all our other projects and the Wikipedia- to try and cross promote and giving a bit more detail about the Forum- I'll be doing vice versa on the wiki.
Secondly, Unknown has been working hard on a couple of new things. Firstly he changed the front page at www.grimeforum.com (http://www.grimeforum.com). People didn't like 'GF' in black and white so theres a new animated gif there which when clicked takes you here. One of the problems with the last page was that the link to the actual forum was way too small at the top. Hes also been working hard behind the scenes on GrimeStore which is under development now and we'll both be doing a lot of work on that in the coming weeks and hopefully have something to show you soon.
We've also entered a cross promotion with Smokey Barz and his videos. There will be a 'grime' watermark on his vids and a link to our site at the beginning and end. We'll be showcasing his videos on the front page- so watch out for that soon- he has some big artists lined up for future vis.
After toying with the idea, we are going to trial having artists/djs bigging up the forum at the end of Track Rips. While it isn't exactly great for people who download rips, it advertises the site and might convince people to get hold of the real song more time. We'll also be putting the Grimeforum.com name into the song artist/title so when you listen to your songs it will advertise it to your msn list (although your welcome to re-name it better if you wish).
We will be releasing DJ Mix Cd'S monthly, with 60 minutes of Grime Songs mixed, which you can purchase cheaply on CD, which gives you the opportunity to donate to the site, while recieving a product in return. We'll hopefully be getting big DJ's to contribute mixes to help support us.
Notice that it took us a couple of weeks but now there has been no downtime recently, even on Logan sets! But the cost to us is a fair bit.
Theres a lot more in the pipeline, which I'll be announcing soon, as well as the Grime Forum EP (vocal) and the Grime Forum EP (instrumentals) which will be completed and promoted as soon as we can get it all together.
If you have any further suggestions or ideas, please don't hesistate to contact me or Elijah or the rest of the team. We're always trying to improve this site and improve our brand image for Grime.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to big up FullyGrown who every day helps add to the Wikipedia and makes a few small changes/edits a day and it goes unrecognised- its appreciated mate.
