LOL If all that is true talk then I've lost some respect for him tbh.
Yeah he is Wiley but how many chances has Wiley had?
Maybe he is just talking...stirring it up in time for Rolex.

Yeah but Wiley had had quite a few chances to "blow" and something always flops and half the time he says he is responsible for the departures ect.
Sometimes you gotta be smart man, if there was a problem he should have just went with what they were saying for Rolex, gave them their hit and they would have said cool now make us an album we'll push it and would probably let him make the album he wants. All labels want is that hit that secures people will pick up his album.

basically wiley does what wiley wants to do

he's not gonna do a shit video just because atlantic or whomever wants him to just like he's not going to release a dodgy electro album just becaust the record label wants him to. In the other rolex thread loads of you are crying because you think he's a sell out and now that he's not selling out you're all whinging

he can't win with some of you whatever he does

Get me..

Thats the problem with this and other grime forums.. especially with ppls opinion to Dizzee and to a lesser extent Kano, and any other grime (i use the term loosely) act...
Don't feel as though you know more about their career than them.
Who ever said Wiley should retire if he doesnt blow is dumb, cos who care REALLY whether they blow in the mainstream or not..
As long as theyre makin good music then you can't say shit..
It's a bit surreal how theyre playing Wearing my rolex on capital fm and radio 1 daytime shows cos now everyone thinks they know Wiley when he aint nuthin like that in terms of tunes he makes..
Hear Taliban on Umbrella, thats classic Wiley watever way u look at it..

he left big dada and went back, claiming it was to get them to show more attention or something.

he's talking about atlantic still. thing is, as d-structo said, the tune got signed. he's probably saying he "left" atlantic so peeps can be like "rah, he did this for grime!".

Nah man look.
I got respect for Wiley man he's done a lot and still does.
But he could do a lot following Rolex, if Rolex tops the charts he should have had his album ready EVEN if Atlantic wasn't backing it. Cos bare Rolex fans would just buy into the hype.
By 2009 only the same old heads will care.

If this gets too big and your average chav family in bennidorm are doing the rolex dance at the hotel bar then it will be like the cheeky girls following up their single with a hardcore rap album.

When I saw Jammer do the Rolex dance I could see some people in my family doing this dance at Predros Family Tapas bar this summer.

Tho all going well if the album drops after summer on some sort of label then maybe he can do well, but he would need to have wearing my rolex on there otherwise people won't buy into it.

Mister Lacey
30th March '08, 04:01 AM
I just think if Wiley really wanted to sell records than he should have lined up the album ready for after Rolex dropped.

But I don't know, Rolex took off pretty quicky so maybe he wasn't prepared.

He will have one I reckon.

I reckon he could knock out a decent album in a month, with other peoples productions on it if he put his mind to it.

Plus Rolex will be big over the summer, and people usally cash in on the summer around september.

As much as i respect wiley and his music, i personally feel he needs to grow up, his too focused on repping grime , he should be focusing about making good music. I ain't gonna knock him because he made track that appeals to an wider audience, but at times in his career he should of bit his tongue so he could prosper in the music industry but instead he didn't and now finds himself in the situation he finds himself in, which is;

Not being in one of the most successful record labels in the music industry because he never liked the video he was meant to be doing. Even though they offered him a lifeline to his drifting career.

Arguing on forums with his own fans that supported him before "wearing my rolex" was released.

And damaging the reputation of grime artists who may find it harder to be recognized by major labels , because they might assume that if the godfather of grime can't be professional, then the other grime artist might be worse.

Swear, I would like wiley to succeed in music. I used to have bare faith in him from day. Since he started posting fraff like he was some semi-retarded yout, that's when things went over the line. I just think that, despite the poor choice made with "...rolex" he might as well play the game and see how it pans out with atlantic instead of being dismissive. A backdoor to majorland could serve him well still. They might not be feelin grime right now, but fact is, contacts are contacts innit. Throwing away opportunity after opportunity is really not indicative of smarts at all.

(im talking from the standpoint of an artist, not a "grime ambassador" or whatever. personal advancement is always more important that serving a scene merely for props.)
