Yo all,

Just a lil thread to ask what people would like to see from us. Here is a lil short list of stuff that is going to happen.

-Pre order launch day delivery! So people will get the item on day of launch.
-Weekly sets and live in-store performances from everyone including DJs/Artists/Producers etc

-Weekly downloads

-Daily blog and many competions including Mix 08 comp and producer 08 comp with prizes like prod winners will have there own EP pressed in uptown etc.

-New download site for mixes etc as its blown up.

Just want to know what you all think and any other ideas you have. Very much appreciate any responses.

yeah the exclusive day delivery thing is a minor! its just making sure the artists understand and agree! and again this is stuff we have been testing for a while its nothing new. And remember our day to day jobs have changed as the store doesnt have the footfall it used to have anymore not because people dont want to come in just because they dont need to reach all the way down to the store to buy there goods they can do it from home online! so the store will be used more for promotion and this sort of thing.

like a monthly mixtape with dj vectra & uptown with all the lastest songs on it for promoting the upcoming cd's from the artist or somthing.

Thats big, using the stores heritage as a platform, its like a brand, same with Rinse and Jammers Bassment, they could all benefit using a same approach.

More Stock: i mean like older CDs, a couple times ive touched the store and wanted to buy some older cds. The only place I seem to be able to get older releases is UKRS and tbh id rather touch the store and get them.

So to stock some older cds would be a good look.

was thinking about also a live instore mix comp! 10 min sets by who ever wants to enter and have judges who set up a scoring system! will do it for all genres like garage, grime, dusbtep and bassline! also going to do industry football! Dubstep vs grime, bassline vs garage etc with all the big producers/djs and artists etc. Will defo happen :)

I'd like to see stuff getting sent out in normal post.
As stuff worth under £25 is insured in normal post as long as proof of postage is got when sending.

Would make it so much cheaper for customers getting 1 new cd. Other wise a CD comes to like £8-9 with postage. When it could be about 50p-£1 for 1CD in post.

We are getting more and more dubstep in as we speak as well as my new label Urban Nerd which will have an exclusive dubstep and Bassline EP to Uptown very soon! Uptown FM is actually a near possibility ;)

And for those who seem to think that we start stuff and dont follow through, we have not been in business for 12 years for not following through lol?

Thanks for all the ideas, and we will be looking at the postage very soon and maybe offer cheaper alternatives but with the option that if it gets lost or not delivered it will be at the customers own risk and they would have to chase it up etc.

I would like to see Uptown release a highly anticipated cd before it's s'posed to, get over-excited and start dropping hyped comments on internet forums about it, get told they're shouldn't of done that and take it back off the shelf again then come on here and have to explain themselves and admit they're not even sure if the artist will be coming instore on the actual release date anymore... Oh wait, u already do that innit. Sorry, my bad Jenai, carry on... More of the sly indirects at ur competitors would be nice too, makes u look proper professional. Ur large fam!

I kno quite alot about how this scene works actually matey, along with the DnB, Old Skool & House scenes. Rudegirl, i was behind the counter at Elite Records (RIP) in Victoria before I was even at secondary school - that's probably a bit before ur time in this biz tho fam :)
