Plus it's kind of hard to listen to music when half the time you as a person are being cussed. it's like a lot of music is made just for men, so mcs can boast about how many girls they par off. A lot of the raves are very intimidating... mostly 80%+ staring at you. I've got used to it and I go because I love the music but when theres things like bassline and r&b it's no surprise girls would rather spend their p on that. Grime is very raw street music and then rawness seems to genuinely scare ppl away.

Hyperfrank you should set up a grime convention.

In the day so people aint scared, and MC's could have stalls to sell mix cd's producers could do tutorials and there good be a stage where people could perform. People could drink but it would be a convention atmosphere.

It would be a good way to get the fans in the door and listening and buying the music there and then.

Because I don't think the club thing will work for grime exclusive nights.

This.

Take Riko's CD for example, he has a track called Women's Liberation which is about banging out his girl because he sees here in a car he don't know.

No girl is going to appreciate that song

Also girls like things to sing-a-long and dance to, but the popular opinion is that a tune isn't grime if it ticks these boxes

EllaDecember
25th March '08, 09:35 PM
and also i don't like bassline that much, and i kind of deaded rnb when i was thirteen. just making some post and speaking for women and making assumptions that aren't even true. and bare girls are put off grime, cause they're treated like there sub-human in the scene and our opinions don't genuinely matter. and people don't believe you're genuinely interested, you just fancy some emcees (some are choong though ;]) but still and everything is oh you're a sket and are you the girl that lashed mercston. why would girls want to be in a scene when they get abuse like that? but true say i love grime and i don't care.

MedellinManDem

I don't go to grime raves specifically for women anyway. If they're there then it's a bonus.

promotion promotion promotion

your force anything on people, they will like it in time.

listen i go uni in hertfordshire and theres about 8 people in the uni who REALLY follow grime, and 4 of them are me, my boy callum (rodney on this forum, but barely ever posts), skilliam and elijah!

but i got female friends who have grown up listening to rnb, fav movie dirty dancing and shit... and iv got them blaring buss 1 out their rooms. they say they APPRECIATE the rawness of it, howver, they would NEVER go to a grime rave.

also, although they say they can appreciate the rawness, they say they like the tunes which actually have suttin to say, which in grime isnt really common - not that its non existant. it just isnt too common.

they like bashy a lot... ghetto... jme... some skepta. black the ripper! (my minds battle, missing you, real on roads...) what are these lot doing differently that white middle class females who grew up living a fairy tale are feeling their material? nothing, iv just rammed it down their throats and now they love it.

1 female mcs been mentioned, and got slewed.

the display of stupidity here is shocking as well, are women attracted to stupidity?

also, theres been mention of sexist lyrics AND direct sexist comments made.

tbh, some women go for melodic mysogynistic crap....

cases in point would be 90% of the crap yank hiphop that circulates. But, in fairness, most of our recent mtv-centric culture has accepted and embraced it (the "bitch" and "ho" references have been used so frequently that it has become part of popular culture, regardless of its degrading and mysogynistic tone), so it's become acceptable. Whereas grime, with its references to "gash" and stuff of that nature is still a bit too close to the bone for some areas of the female record buying/listening community.

you'd never tell i was raised by a lefty feminist would ya? :P

I meant anti-feminist, near enough meaning to the word you chose to use though not precisely the same; the word you used is so rarely used however I doubt that even in people in year 10 know what it means.

Want to take the patronizing tone?

Sounds like someone got bullied at school. :dozey:

EllaDecember

what do you mean half of year 10 don't know what a misogynist is? people are more intelligent than you think, and i get bullied in school because i've got a wider vocabulary than "oi/skeen/par." its not good to make assumptions like that. and i'm not being patronising, i'm just helping you.
