Is it me or is there really alot of mc's who have started producing? Frisco and griminal are just 2 of many. I got a feeling that soon mc's wont bother going to a producer to get beats they'll make em themselves and you can see the beginning of this cause on frisco's last CD there a few productions he done himself and also on radio shows im starting to hear mc's beats rather than them letting producers do their job. BTW if you aint heard a griminal production, check the videos on his myspace. I don't think they'll be as good as producers like silencer, maniac, rude kid, so why not just concentrate on writing?

you cant tell mcs to stick to writing if they want to produce let them produce. frisco is a good producer and his beats get dropped by all djs just because he is an mc doesn't mean he should just leave it for producers who are only producers to do it. if all mcs produced for themselves and the beats were good, what is the problem?

The problem is what about the producers in the first place, they work hard making tunes for artists who would turn around n say soz mate im vocaling my own tune. I never said frisco's a bad producer, its just whats the point in having producers who wont be able to work with artists. Only thing for them will be to release instrumental cds.

If your making beats and MC's don't want to vocal them or people don't want to listen to them then why are you making them in the first place?
There are too many nobodies believing they are somebody musically in grime.

That's a bit harsh.... it's just about getting your name out. Also, just like nearly every other industry in the world.... it's who you know... not how good you are!

indirected? lol was meant as a sweeping statement for the whole of grime
Theres most likely more people trying to make the music than there is people willing to buy it.

you shouldn't be in grime if you're in it for money. people ain't really ratin grime these days cos there arent enough set and rave beats. if you wanna move up and get mcs to vocal your beats why not trya and gain recognition in that area.

Most people in grime wanna make money, thats why you see people drifting off to different genres right?

Ermm it does address your point cause artists are in it for money, there may be alot ot of artists like ghetts who don't care much about money, but even he tried going mainstream. Wot for? Topics drifting of i think lol.

i said they 'shouldn't be in grime' for money, i didnt say if they were or wern't - i admit thats a bold statement and artists do deserve something out of the work they put.

What you need to do really is get your self a little group set up init Nu_Klea, get some people you know who MC some people who produce and your sorted because the spitters can focus and the producers can focus. Apart from that you need to just do what the MC's do and switch between genres yourself.

because producer's make to many swag beats thats why.
Stop running off to a MC when you make a big beat have a plan perfect your beats b4 u send them out. Come with something different.
Thats why Silencer just leap frogged to the top (grime).
People remember waifer for basically every beat he made because they were top quality.
Simple thing is for producers to up there games because half the promo's are full of shit

This.
If more producers worked on there own shit and pushing there stuff out to more radios and DJ's, MC's would end up getting the tunes and doing shit over them anyways. Alot of producers need to start doing that instead of relying on MC's to do tunes over there beats to get them big.
I'd rather learn to make a beat than pay for beats to spit over (if I was an MC)

i dont see anything wrong with it
if a mc decides they want to start producing as well
a) it doesnt mean they're going to boycott other producers completely
they probably just have certain ideas for songs
and only they understand what they think the beat should sound like
and b) it shows how versatile they are as an artist if they write their own material,
can make beats and even in some cases also be a studio engineer and know how to mix and master
tbh i think the scene would have a more rich and varied sound if loads
of artists brought their own individual sounds in their music
and other producers wouldn't need to worry, as long as their beats are good
they would still get vocalled regardless of whether or not the person vocalling
it can make beats or not

i think its good for the scene to be honest.
skepta, wiley, jammer, jme... it aint like mc's have only just started producing and it aint like they only spit on their own beats so what's the issue.
the more variety of beats the better in my opinion.

LOL.. Your right... it's not even Just in the UK. lil wayne in the us is a fuckin USELESS producer but people love him. I think Certain people should just concertrate on barring because there beats aint doing it.

if you mc and make beats well then do both. if you're good you're good regardless of what you started doing.
you might need to do a big seac and fall back from one for a while to focus on the other but if you can pull it off by all means do it.
if anything it ups the standards so its good for grime.

I saw logan say before that maniac messaged him on myspace about his beats n he didnt respond. The minute wiley touched a maniac beat everything changed though, grime is fickle but producers cant complain coz u know what your getting yourself into from just being on this forum. Mc's move funny, how many mc's have siad they want to vocal a riddem, even played the vocal to you down the phone then 22's you never hear from them again n never hear da riddem. If i had all the vocals of my tunes dat mc;s have done i'd have some crazy catalogue. As a producer dont rely on mc's for anything dats long, make your beats be able to stand up as an instrumental.
CHUCK.
