View Full Version : Poll: Do You Pay For Your Grime Music?
Curphey
30th May '09, 03:00 PM
Well due to the recent discussion/albums leaking, I was wondering who actually supports the scene?
I'll start, I don't but only because when it's avaliable for free, why go out and spend a tenner on it.
Anyway, vote the poll. You don't have to state what you voted, but you can if you want. I made this as I was curious, don't hate.

If you download all your tunes off file sharing sites / rapidshare etc. don't put all them tunes together in a mix & throw it on net, don't list tunes you downloaded as 'unreleased', don't miss title tunes in your mixes because that’s how they where labelled in the dodgy zip file you got em from & if you have money - throw it down!
Please think about what you are doing, trying to build your name up off the hard work of other people - even the guy that leaked the tune did more work than you! Let alone the artists. Let me make it clear that I am not talking about tunes which the artist has put into the public arena, play promos! Push the artists you believe in, but when an artist releases music for sale, you need to pay 2 play!
No-moral-high-ground-O! I download tunes, we all do, but I don't put those tunes in the mixes I put online. I also buy a shitload. Often times people ask me where I found such n such a tune, mostly its off a well known site like traxsource, sometimes its off a slightly lesser known site like afrodesia or ukfunky.com. As well as spending money & this is the rub, I also SPEND TIME.
. everything said above

If i like something and the shipping isnt ridiculous than i'll buy it, but when you have to pay like 20 dollars to get a cd to cali its kinda retarded n i jus download it til it comes up on the us itunes. plus i jus bought bashy's shirt for $40 instead of buying his cd. dont think this is bad cus the shirt is ridiculously overpriced.

exactly it.
also il always download an album iv paid for (or am planning to already buy) if it leaks before its arrived. just for the sake of hearing it sooner. but i guess if iv paid for it anyways it doesnt so much count as 'downloading'

If its an artist that I know I like, and is likely to be what I'll bump then I'll buy it without checking it out.
If its an artist I'm unsure of / don't really like, I'll try, and either delete or buy.
E.g. Durrty Goodz' Ultrasound I downloaded for the pure fact I don't really like him, and then deleted it after one play lol.

.
Somethings are a straight purchase tho...but more often its odd songs rather than a whole album, so i end up goin to itunes store... then again some songs id be happy to just have it in a download mix or podcast...

what's the point in deleting after you download unless you tryna save space or it actually offends you just by being present on your itunes

His voice annoys me, and I don't think any of them beats really suited his flow/style tbh, he just used fire beats for the sake of it, not for what suits him IMO.
There's quite a few that agree, its either way really.

If I know it's sick, or I largely respect the artist. For example Microphone Champion is straight pure grime business.
