There's a big difference between bandwagons and people learning about people that aren't usualy talked about, a lot of the time this is the case but I do agree that when their work is released then these ratings will be more understood. Also I have rated guys like impulse for a veryyyyyy long bloody time. I think I even interviewed him for my blog a couple of years back.

These new mc's that come out do a couple of raves/radio sets and spit on some tunes, are just ones to watch, because they haven't proven themseleves yet.

I thinks it's a piss take to artists like Frisco and Goodz who have proven themselves at a high level. If you think someone is a better spitter then someone else then fair enough, but the person your rating have they released anything yet? If they haven't carm down and keep an eye for there first mixtape.

It just feels like it's a race to rate the next up and coming MC/producer and when they DO start to blow you get the classic line "yeah I knew about him from day."

well he hasnt released 3 CD's of shit. he's released 1 inconsistent but overall moderately good CD in 2000 & Life, one shit CD with Ghetto Gospel(but still had a couple big tunes on it) and one of the better mixCDs that's been released in grime with Freedom Of Speech, not to mention merked countless radio sets over quite a long period of time.

Basically the moral of the story is that people like who they like and will always have their favourites. Some might of only heard of Impulse and Rinse 2 weeks ago, some may of followed them from way back when. This kind of thing happens a lot though, people throw things up like Rinse >>>>> strawberry doughnut and Impulse >>>>> Jacket Potato and a lot of people just copy it. The best will always be debated but no one can really help who they genuinely like and prefer. Even if they haven't got 50 mixtapes out etc. Hype always pops out and when the release drops then we will know if they deserved it or not.

opinions aren't all equally credible. like the committee of boxing experts that gather to decide an official pound4pound ranking's opinions on boxing hold more weight and are more informed than most other boxing fans, so they are eligible to make these decisions.

and i'm not even saying that mine is particularly credible in the grand scheme of things. just an example against Scribbler's argument of it being impossible to decide if someone's better than someone else in an opinion based subject

This is what I always base my top mcs on, i can't say who's the best technically because people enjoy different things. My top lists are always based on who I enjoy listening to, I've never rated BTR as one of my tops becuse i haven't heard that one tune that i really like from him once i've heard one of them from an mc i follow them and my interest either dies out or grows.
