ive been listening to rinse fm for many yrs now and i remember sets like ladies hit squad, PAUG, otcrew and more fire plus many more. during the day you had good dj's playing good music i swear i cant even listen to it hardley any more with all this funky house its on everytime i tune in..
i thought rinse was the home of grime, garage and top dj's.
im just saying i'd like to see rinse bak to how it was when i could listen to it all day everyday not this swag i hear the music is so boring...

Because there's probably a bigger audience for it.

Things move on, do you want DJs to play music that doesnt exist?

By the end of the year funky will be "out" again so don't worry. With every new skank, funky dies a bit more.

Thats like saying Grime dies anytime someone makes a shit tune. Remember the people doing them things are nobodies, and they dont really go further then facebook and youtube.

Funky is a lot more than those skanks

Mazer Rackham

also, because it easier to fill 2 hours with samey funky instros than grime.

Yeah but for the people who don't know about Rinse etc all they have is Youtube and AKA/Fizz. So they ain't gonna care for it. But then it could be argued that the people watching them channels are idiots anyway...

i like the funky that has that garage or grimey feel to it. like that SIA little man remix. but some of it does sound the same or a bit amateur.

and it beats bassline (resists putting down the north)

House is safe and loads of people like it so the audiance is there for it. For me funky is kind of slowing down already its a shame. Nothing as good as the Lil Silva, Roska and Hard House Banton's bits from last year has appeared and some of the only good bits being made are by the dubstep people like Geiom, Kode 9 and Greviouse Angel... I want some of that good shit again!

Wasnt really into funky too much b4, but hearing it in the clubs it feels right and is helping keep everything under the Garage umbrella in the clubs at the mo which is important, having all these branches of UKG is a positive thing, they cant stop them all.

On a side note, what is the 'X factor' so to speak that unites all these sounds, i cant really bubble in a club to normal clubby stuff, but when old skool garage, funky or bassline comes on just instant bubbly vibes for aslong as its on, when it stops i kinda switch off again.

garage = dead (unless u play old school)
grime = no one wants to hear that all day, and they still have shows covering grime
dubstep = same as grime
bassline = im sure they have a few shows of it
funky = they have quite a few shows playing this
house = this is the main thing they play, most of it is boring, shit, etc but sometimes u get some alright stuff
but yeah, rinse annoys me a lot now too, too much safe boring house.
i like some of the techier techno type house i hear tho

funky has got the same vibe ol skool garage had, the last couple years raving became shit but now it's a nice again due to funky, and it's been big for a lot longer then some people think just that these skank tunes have brought it more to the mainstream,

don't get it twisted most funk heads hate the swag skank tunes don't believe the hype

Mazer Rackham
17th May '09, 06:53 PM
if funky is only good in a rave, then it wont get that big. saying that, even though im not a fan i reckon it sounds ok outside of raves

what is dubstep/funky/bassline/electro? Grime is the newest proper genre still. Pisses me off how 10 guys do the same beat & dance & put it on youtube & evry1 says its a new style or genre of music. A genre takes at least 10 years 2 create properly.

Jay05

Funky is on alot during the day

but there is at least 1 big dubstep or grime show every night except Friday and Saturday, when you can be out at a rave.

i'm not too sure about the mad hype ting as much as i want a mad set as i've only just joined the station i don't know the rules yet so i don't want to take the piss and get thrown off straight away lol.

But i will have a bag of new music with me plus a war dub no ones heard yet.
